She Rejected the Mafia Heir, He Went Crazy Chapter 07

I paused briefly. I have a weak throat-childhood illness turned into chronic pharyngitis. After we got together, Leonardo made me honey water every morning. I’d been drinking it for three years. My throat was nearly healed.

So I looked at the thermos in his hand and said, “No, thanks.” I avoided his hand and took the

bottled water instead.

Leonardo stared at me in a daze, his hand frozen midair. After a long while, he finally lowered it.

After the presentation, he organized a dinner. Everyone was going. I couldn’t really refuse.

Before we left, I went to the bathroom. When I came back, my colleagues had already gone ahead.

Only one car was still waiting.

I opened the door. Leonardo sat inside. He had taken off his jacket and was wearing only a white shirt. It looked familiar-I’d given it to him for his birthday last year. He’d worn it so often the cuffs frayed, but he refused to throw it away. I’d had no choice but to sew a silver star patch over the tear.

Leonardo looked at me, his lips parting slightly. “Emily…”

I acted like I didn’t hear him, sliding to the far side and looking out the window.

He paused, then tried again. “Emily.”

I finally turned my head and looked at him. “Mr. Vitale? Is there something you need?”

He flinched. “You called me… Mr. Vitale?”

I said flatly, “What else should I call you?”

He opened his mouth. “Like before. Just my name.”

I tilted my head and asked, puzzled, “Before? What before? Did we know each other before?”

His face went pale. “Emily, don’t do this…”

I cut him off. “In my memory, I only know a Leonardo whose parents died, who worked as a realtor and made two thousand a month. I don’t know any billionaire Mr. Vitale.”

“Emily!” He raised his voice and abruptly grabbed my wrist. “Let’s talk. I can explain everything.”

I looked at him, expressionless. “Explain what? That you pretended to be poor for three years while

keeping a mistress? That you bought her a villa and a luxury car, spending like water, while I saved every cent for a down payment-and the moment I looked at something expensive, you called me a gold-digger?”

He shook his head, wanting to say something but completely unable to get the words out.

I pried his fingers off, one by one. “Leonardo, you did what you did. Even if you had the biggest reason in the world, it wouldn’t change the fact that you deceived and betrayed me.”

The car stopped at the hotel. I pushed the door open, ready to get out. He grabbed my hand again I can make it up to you! Anything you want, tell me I can give you everything!”

I pulled away forcefully and said coldly, “I don’t want anything.”

After that day, I stayed home for two days, hiding from him. I figured a busy man like him wouldn’t stay abroad for long.

But on the third day, the company called. Equipment adjustment. I went. Leonardo was there. He said he wanted to observe. I didn’t say anything, letting him stand there and watch. But I never responded to anything he said. As soon as I finished the work, I left.

On the fourth day, the company said the data team had a problem and asked me to come take a look. I went again. I helped the staff fix a few errors and then left.

On the fifth day, the company called for help yet again. I’m not stupid. Usually, they didn’t need me once a month. But these past two days, problems kept popping up. I didn’t have to guess—Leonardo

was behind it.
