She Hijacked My Wedding in White? Meet the Real Vesper Behind the Veil! Chapter 05

She Hijacked My Wedding in White? Meet the Real Vesper Behind the Veil! Chapter 05

The banquet hall went completely wild.

Mia’s face was deathly pale, and her fingers were clenched tightly around the hem of her

wedding dress. The lace she had been showing off just moments ago now felt like a public

execution.

Adrian was the first to react.

He rushed off the stage and grabbed my wrist.

“Evelyn, let’s talk in private.”

In private?

I looked at him and almost burst out laughing.

“From the moment Mia walked onto the stage in her wedding dress, to your kiss, the ritual of

sharing a cup of wine, and putting on the family heirloom bracelet-which part of that did you

do in private?”

“Now that you’re the one in an awkward spot, you want to talk about this in private?”

Mia was sobbing quietly nearby.

“Evelyn, I really didn’t know that was your design. I-I just wanted to liven up the wedding a

little…

I burst out laughing. “Wearing someone else’s wedding dress, crashing someone else’s wedding, kissing someone else’s fiancé. Miss Bennett, has your liven-up always been this

messy?”

Her face turned pale.

A few of the groomsmen standing nearby tried to smooth things over.

“Evelyn, Mia just loves to play around-she doesn’t mean any harm.”

“There are so many people here today-let’s not make a scene.”

“Come on, can’t you take a joke?”

I glanced at them.

“So her wearing a wedding dress was a joke, the kiss was a joke, and using Vesper’s name

was a joke too?”

“So if I were to fire all of you right now, would that count as a joke?”

Mrs. Cross walked over, her face ashen.

“Evelyn, don’t forget what today is. You’ve already proven yourself to be Vesper-what more

do you want?”

“Mia is young and doesn’t know any better. As the future Mrs. Cross, you should be a bigger

woman.”

“The future Mrs. Cross?”

I picked up the microphone.

“Unfortunately, as of this moment, that’s no longer the case.”

The room fell silent.

“Everyone, please be quiet. I have a few things to say.”

“First, I, Evelyn Sterling, hereby announce that I am officially breaking off my engagement to

Adrian Cross.”

Adrian’s expression changed. “Evelyn!”

I ignored him.

“Second, Maison Vespera will terminate all collaborative projects with Cross Group.”

Mr. Cross jumped to his feet.

“You think you can just call it off whenever you want? Evelyn, a business partnership isn’t a tool for you to throw a tantrum. Can you afford to pay the liquidated damages?”

I really wanted to ask him where the Cross family got the nerve.

I pulled a document from the display rack and turned to the last page.

“Mr. Cross, are you referring to this supplemental agreement?”

I held the document up to the camera.

“It’s clearly stated here. The spring haute couture collaboration collection is designed

exclusively by Vesper. Should Vesper withdraw from the project, Maison Vespera and Sterling

Group reserve the right to terminate the collaboration without liability.”

Mr. Cross’s expression froze instantly.

Clearly, he hadn’t been aware of the agreement.

Of course not.

All he knew was that his son had married a woman who had been cast out by the Sterling

family.

How could he possibly know that the high-end project Cross Group was counting on to save

itself was entirely in my hands from start to finish?

Mrs. Cross’s voice tightened.

“Evelyn, even if you are Vesper, you don’t speak for the Sterling Group.”

I laughed. “Who said I can’t?”

No sooner had the words left my mouth than the large screen in the banquet hall suddenly lit

An official statement from the Sterling Group was released simultaneously.

[Sterling Group confirms that Ms. Evelyn Sterling is the Group’s largest shareholder and Chair

of the Board, and holds the ultimate decision-making authority within the Sterling family.

Effective immediately, Sterling Group is suspending all cooperation and due diligence with Cross Group.]

Mr. Cross’s glass slipped from his hand and crashed to the floor.

“Chairman of the Board?” he cried in disbelief.

“That can’t be… Didn’t the Sterling family disown you a long time ago?”

“Who says the head of a family has to stand out in public every day for you to see?”

I picked up the partnership agreement that had originally been intended as part of my dowry.

“Adrian, I trusted you before.”

“So I was planning to put all my resources right in front of you.”

“Too bad-you’re not worthy anymore.”

I turned and walked toward the banquet hall doors.

I heard Adrian’s panicked voice behind me.

“Evelyn, wait! I can explain!”

I didn’t look back.

The door swung open. Outside the hotel, six black sedans were lined up neatly at the end of

the red carpet.

The lead bodyguard stepped forward and opened the car door for me.

“Chairman Sterling, the press release has been issued. The legal department is preparing the

formal termination letter.”
