She Hijacked My Wedding in White? Meet the Real Vesper Behind the Veil! Chapter 02

Adrian led Mia toward the main table.

She was still wearing her wedding dress and holding the bouquet that should have been mine, smiling as she accepted congratulations.

Seated at the head table were Mr. and Mrs. Cross, his grandparents, and several of the Cross family’s most prominent elders.

What about me?

The real bride was still sitting in the dressing room, watching the live stream.

How ridiculous.

A guest asked, “Mrs. Cross, who is this young lady?”

Mrs. Cross smiled warmly and took Mia’s hand.

“This is Mia. She grew up with Adrian—she’s like a daughter to us. Thanks to her for livening things up today; otherwise, the wedding wouldn’t be nearly as lively.”

Mia lowered her head, playing the good girl.

“I just wanted to lighten the mood a little. I’m happier than anyone else that Adrian’s getting married, so I thought we could all have a little fun. Evelyn won’t be upset, will she?”

Mrs. Cross immediately patted her hand.

“She has a gentle nature; she’ll be sensible.”

The next moment, Mrs. Cross slipped the gold bracelet off her own wrist and placed it on Mia’s.

I had seen that bracelet before.

Last month, Mrs. Cross showed it to me, saying it was a family heirloom passed down to her daughter-in-law, to be worn officially on the wedding day.

Now, it was on Mia’s hand.

She covered her mouth in surprise.

“Ma’am, this is too valuable. I can’t accept it.”

“Just take it.”

Mrs. Cross smiled kindly.

“Thanks for all your hard work today.”

The live stream’s comment section exploded instantly.

[Now THAT’s more like the real Cross family’s matriarch.]

[Help! Ms. Cross just put the family heirloom bracelet on Mia—what kind of approval is this?]

[If the real bride saw this backstage, wouldn’t she faint from crying?]

Crying?

Why would I cry?

For a mother-in-law who put a family heirloom bracelet on someone else’s wrist?

Or for a fiancé who showed up at his own wedding holding another woman’s hand?

Someone joked with a smile, “Mrs. Cross, since you like Mia so much, why didn’t you just have Adrian marry her?”

Mr. Cross burst out laughing.

“If Mia really were to marry into the family, she would be smiling in her sleep.”

Adrian laughed too. “Dad, don’t joke around like that. I’m marrying Evelyn today.”

That sounded nice. But his hand was still clutching Mia.

Mrs. Cross sighed again.

“Evelyn is a nice girl, but she’s too soft-hearted and doesn’t have a powerful family to back her up. It’s her good fortune that she’s able to marry into the Cross family.”

They were right.

It was true that the Sterling family hadn’t mentioned me in public for quite some time.

Three years ago, my grandfather handed over the family seal, his seat on the board of directors, and all core voting rights to me.

From that day on, the Sterling family no longer needed to acknowledge me publicly.

All they had to do was follow my orders.

I turned off the live stream, picked up the wedding veil from the table, and tossed it into the trash can.

The assistant stood at the door and asked quietly, “Miss Sterling, shall we go in now?”

I handed her my phone.

“Let’s start the board meeting video call first.”

I looked at myself in the mirror, my voice calm.

“Before the wedding is over, I want all collaboration privileges for Cross Group frozen.”
