She Got His Celebration, I Got His Betrayal Chapter 07

The day of the press conference. I stood backstage and looked out. Julian was in a sharp suit. Behind him,

Celeste was wrapped up in a face mask and sunglasses.

Reporters swarmed them, shoving microphones in his face. “Mr. Prescott, what’s your relationship with

Celeste Vance?”

“Katherine Sterling says she’s revealing the truth today. Do you have a response?”

Julian raised a hand to block the cameras, his tone cold. “The press conference hasn’t started yet. Please

wait.”

He pushed through the crowd toward the back. Celeste grabbed his sleeve. He leaned down and whispered something, and only then did she let go and take a seat in the front row.

But Julian was stopped by security. “Katherine, don’t do this.”

“I know I’ve been putting Celeste first, and you have every right to be angry. But our marriage doesn’t need to

turn into a public spectacle.”

His voice was exhausted. “If this keeps going, the public opinion against Celeste will get even worse. Do you

really want to destroy her?”

Evan Ashford scoffed. “Mr. Prescott, the press conference is about to start. Please take your seat in the

front.”

Julian looked at him, and the temperature in his eyes dropped. “Mr. Ashford, I don’t know what methods you

used to seduce and deceive my wife. But this is between us. Stay out of it.”

“Seduce?” Evan smiled.

“That’s still better than you marrying Katherine because of a bet you made on a whim, isn’t it, Mr. Prescott?”

Julian’s face went white.

He knows.

I could see it in his expression. He knows about the bet.

I watched him through the gap.

For a second I thought he might kick the door in. But he just stumbled back a step and left fast.

Evan said quietly, “Katherine, it’s time.”

I nodded.

The moment the spotlight hit my face, I couldn’t see anything. Below me was a dark mass of heads and

phone screens.

Julian sat in the front row, expressionless. But I knew him too well.

His clenched fists and pale face gave away his tension.

The reporters couldn’t wait. “Mrs. Prescott, what exactly are you clearing up today?”

“Celeste Vance says you interfered in her relationship. What’s your response?”

I set the settlement on the table and pressed my fingers against the cover.

“First, I did not interfere in any relationship between Julian Prescott and Celeste Vance. I have been legally married to him for three years. As of today, I am his lawful wife.”

The room exploded. “Second,” I continued, my voice cutting through the noise, “I have no interest in being part of their emotional drama. So today, I’m here to divorce Julian.”

Julian shot to his feet. Celeste’s eyes lit up.

He blocked a camera and said low, “Katherine, calm down. We can talk about this privately.”

I smiled. “When you told me to stand in front of those cameras and call myself the other woman, why didn’t you suggest we talk privately then?”

The edge in my voice caught him off guard.

Celeste grabbed his arm in a panic. “Julian, just sign it! Sign it! You love me, not her. Sign it and we can be

together!”

She tried to drag his hand toward the signature line.

Julian didn’t move. His eyes stayed locked on my face. “Katherine, are you sure this is what you want?”

“Yes.”

“Why? What have I done that’s so wrong? Or do you just have to fight with Celeste over me? She’s only like a

sister to me.”

“Sister?”

I repeated the word under my breath. “That’s a convenient excuse for a pair of cheating assholes like you

two.”

The words rang through the room.

Julian’s expression changed. The reporters looked at each other. “Julian, how many times over the past

three years have you told me Celeste mattered more? That she was young and needed you?”

“When a dog bit her, you drove her to get treated in the middle of the night. When I went into anaphylactic

shock and spent three days in the hospital, you never once sat by my bed. Then you told me to face the

cameras and call myself the other woman. You said you’d make it up to me.”

I paused. The ache in my chest was suffocating.

“And what exactly is your version of making it up to me? Keeping me around as your invisible wife?”

Julian’s throat moved. He finally saw how serious I was.

“Katherine, you’re not thinking clearly. Let’s go home and talk. Okay?”

“No.”

Celeste panicked. “Julian, sign it! If you don’t, Katherine will keep hanging onto you! You said it didn’t matter who you married. You married her just because-”

“Celeste!”

Julian cut her off. He stared at the settlement.

“I won’t sign it. Katherine, I won’t divorce you.”
