She Got His Celebration, I Got His Betrayal Chapter 06

She Got His Celebration, I Got His Betrayal Chapter 06

I stared at Evan and finally managed, “I was blind, okay?”

He laughed. But the smile faded just as fast. “Back then, I told you to come with me. You refused.”

We both went quiet. That memory was short, but opening it meant tearing into an old wound.

My parents were senior engineers at Ashford. The day of the accident, they were traveling with the Ashford

family patriarch to a major industry conference.

Someone tampered with the car. In those critical seconds, my parents gave their lives to save his.

When I got there, dozens of people surrounded the injured and unconscious old man. Ambulances, bodyguards, media–it was chaos.

I stood alone in the middle of it. Every face around me was a stranger.

Nobody noticed me standing in the wreckage. Until Evan pushed through the crowd and said the Ashford

family would compensate me at any cost.

I told him to go to hell and stay away from me.

Before he left, he forced his phone number on me.

For years after that, he sent me messages every few days.

I never replied. Until the year I couldn’t take the grief anymore and stood on a rooftop, ready to jump.

He came out of nowhere and yanked me back, calling me an idiot.

For the first time, I sobbed in the arms of someone I barely knew until my whole body shook.

Evan glanced at me. “What are you going to say at tomorrow’s press conference?”

“Divorce. Clear my name. Make them pay.” ”

“Not bad. You haven’t gone stupid in this marriage.”

“Shut up.”

Meanwhile, the Prescott house was in chaos.

Julian sat in the living room, his shirt wrinkled and his eyes full of irritation.

Celeste huddled beside him, crying until her makeup was ruined.

“Julian, how does Evan Ashford know Katherine?”

“Julian, what do I do? What if Katherine says something crazy tomorrow? You have to help me!”

Julian rubbed his temples. His mind had been a mess since he watched Katherine leave with Evan Ashford.

Celeste’s whining only made it worse.

“Do you think Katherine seduced Evan Ashford? She probably asked for that harassment. She was throwing

herself at people!”

“Celeste!”

Julian finally snapped.

“Katherine isn’t like that. Don’t make things up.”

Celeste’s eyes went red.

“Are you seriously yelling at me? For her? You promised you’d always protect me!”

“I’m the victim here. I just don’t want to marry some old man. What did I do wrong? Why does Katherine have

to be so cruel?”

Julian clenched his fists.

For the first time, he felt truly disgusted by Celeste. But Katherine’s phone wouldn’t connect. His messages

were blocked.

What was she going to say tomorrow?

Would she announce in front of everyone that he was her husband?

The thought didn’t make Julian angry.

He even felt a small, twisted satisfaction at being claimed by her.

Celeste’s agent called, and Celeste exploded.

“What the hell are you doing? I called so many times and nobody answered!”

“The public opinion is already this bad. Why haven’t you done anything? I’ll fire all of you!”

There was a pause. “Miss Vance, this is a formal notice. Due to repeated contract violations, Ashford

Entertainment is terminating your agreement, effective immediately. Direct any further questions to our legal

department.”

Celeste froze. “You think you can just drop me? I came to you after my last deal fell apart!”

“Are you insane? If this goes to court, Julian’s my lawyer. You can’t win.”

But the line went dead.

Julian opened his phone and saw the new statement from the Ashford Group official account.

[Ashford Group is cutting all ties with Celeste Vance, effective immediately.]

Then a private message came through.

[Mr. Prescott, for Miss Vance’s sake, we hope you will attend tomorrow’s press conference.]
