She Called It A Joke I Called It Revenge And Let Them Both Burn Chapter 08

Upon hearing that, Lexi began to shake even harder. 

The officer immediately ordered the footage to be pulled. They 

scrolled through until 2:00 AM that morning. 

A sneaky figure was seen slipping into the pantry, quickly 

hiding a bag in a stack of spices, and leaving. 

The frame froze on her face–it was Lexi. 

With the evidence indisputable, Lexi turned white as a sheet, 

her body trembling like a leaf as tears began to fall. 

“No! I didn’t put drugs in there! I thought it was just white pepper! I don’t know how it changed, but it wasn’t me!” 

“I’ll never joke again! Officer, please, I’m innocent!” 

“A joke?” 

The officer cut her off, his eyes full of doubt: 

“If it was just pepper, why didn’t you say so immediately? Why did you present forged documents to frame someone else?” 

“I… I was afraid…” 

Lexi’s face was ghastly. She bit her lip and whispered: 

“I thought if I admitted to planting it, you’d assume it was the drugs. I didn’t mean to hide it…” 

Suddenly, the silent Julian snapped. He lunged forward, 

grabbing Lexi by the collar, his face twisted in rage: 

“It was you! I treated you like family, and this is how you repay me?!” 

“You were caught on camera! Stop lying!” 

He screamed, his chest heaving: 

“Why would you put that in my restaurant? Why would you 

ruin me?!” 

Lexi froze, staring at him with bloodshot eyes, her expression 

one of utter shock and confusion: 

“Julian? You don’t believe me either?” 

While everything pointed to Lexi, I felt something was off. 

Specifically, Julian was acting very strange. 

Just as the officers pulled Julian away from Lexi, the lead officer frowned as if remembering something. 

“Wait. Besides the drugs, was there another bag of pepper in 

the pantry?” 

An officer checking the evidence confirmed there was a separate bag of pepper in a similar clear bag. 

I looked at the officer and said: 

“There is no white pepper on our recent procurement lists.” 

The officer’s expression went cold as he looked at a furious Julian. He turned to the technician: 

“Check the logs again. See if any footage was deleted!”

The technician worked quickly. Minutes later, he said: 

“Sir, I found it! Five minutes of footage from 11:00 PM last 

night were deleted. I can recover it!” 

As the footage was restored, a tall figure appeared on screen. 

He was holding a sealed bag of brown powder, moving quietly 

into the pantry. 

When he came out, his face was visible despite the mask he 

wore. 

“Pause and zoom in!” 

The technician complied. Even with half his face covered, I 

recognized him instantly: it was Julian Sterling! 

Lexi recognized him too, screaming: 

“Julian! That’s Julian!”
