She Called It A Joke I Called It Revenge And Let Them Both Burn Chapter 09

Everyone’s eyes landed on Julian. The jacket in the video was the one he had worn yesterday. 

The faint mole near his right eye was unmistakable. 

The police took his fingerprints on the spot to compare them with the drug packaging. 

The result was a perfect match. 

The fingerprints on the pepper bag, however, belonged to 

Lexi. 

The truth was out! 

Once Lexi was uncuffed, she lunged at a detained Julian like a 

madwoman, kicking and punching. 

Even as she was pulled away, she kept screaming: 

“Julian, you animal! What did I ever do to you for you to pin 

this on me?!” 

“You almost ruined my life!” 

She whipped around to look at me, laughing and crying 

hysterically: 

“Seraphina, look at him! He’s scum! He was dating you while sleeping with me!” 

“He said once the restaurant got famous and he made enough 

money, he’d dump you the ‘chef girl‘–and be with me!” 

“But when things go wrong, he doesn’t love anyone but 

himself!” 

I listened quietly. I felt no heartbreak, and I felt no sympathy for Lexi. 

After all, she deserved this. 

I turned and looked calmly at the now–confessed Julian, asking coldly: 

“I only want to know one thing: why would you buy something that destroys people?” 

Julian looked up, his face contorted, eyes bloodshot as he 

screamed at me: 

“I didn’t want to! Seraphina, you forced me!” 

“You have such talent–you could have made The Gilded Sage a gold mine! Why couldn’t you just stay here quietly?” 

“Did you think about what would happen once you left? 

Without your name, the customers wouldn’t come back! I put everything I had into this place; I couldn’t let it fail! I was desperate – I had to use that stuff to keep the customers 

addicted!” 

I laughed, realizing how blind I had been. 

I have my own life and career; I was never going to give up 

everything to stay in his little bistro forever. 

In those five days, I had taught the other chefs my techniques 

and secret recipes without holding anything back. 

Even if they weren’t at my level, it was enough to keep the 

restaurant’s reputation solid. 

But I never expected that in his eyes, only profit mattered. 

To save his business, he was willing to break the law and harm his customers. 

It was truly pathetic.
