Rejected on the Frost Moon Night, Claimed by the Alpha King Chapter 05

Mom’s face was ice cold She grabbed a bucket of slop and hurled it straight at Blaze

“Get out! Who the hell is your mother?!”

Blaze didn’t dodge in time. The stinking waste water soaked him head to toe, the sour stench filling

his nostrils.

He wiped his face, frowning. “Mom, what are you doing? Selene and I are about to complete the

mate bond-”

“Mate bond?” Jett shoved him hard. “My sister already did!”

Blaze stumbled back two steps.

“Don’t talk nonsense. Selene and I have four years together. She wouldn’t marry someone else”

Jett jabbed a finger into his chest. “You bastard still have the nerve to mention love?”

“That day you ran off to some other woman, my sister almost got sent to the temple as a sacrifice!”

“If Alaric hadn’t risked his life diving for the Sea God’s Pearl, she’d be rotting in that temple right now! And here you are pretending like nothing happened? Stop performing.”

“What? That’s… impossible…” Blaze froze, his brain blank.

“She married Alaric yesterday. They’re already in Lunaris!”

Blaze remembered the convoy at the crossroads.

The luxury car. The gown.

It really had been Selene.

And he’d driven away because Lilith called.

The gift bags slipped from his hands, crashing onto the pavement.

“No… this can’t be happening…”

His hand shook as he pulled out his phone and dialed.

A cold, mechanical voice answered.

“The number you have dialed is not in service.”

“Didn’t you know? My sister changed her number ages ago,” Jett sneered. “That one’s been dead

for weeks.”

Blaze unraveled.

One month later. Lunaris Hospital.

I stepped out of the department, still in my white coat.

Rain hammered down outside. I reached for my umbrella just as a black Maybach pulled up at the

curb.

Alaric stepped out, holding a black umbrella. He climbed the steps in long strides, draping a ligh coat over my shoulders and pulling me close.

“Temperature’s dropping. Don’t catch a cold.”

I leaned into him without hesitation.

Since our mating ceremony, he’d cared for me with endless patience.

They say loving someone is like tending a flower-and under his care, my skin had turned luminous, my whole demeanor brighter, more beautiful than before.

We were about to get in the car when a voice tore through the rain.

“Selene!”

Blaze stood there, drenched, eyes bloodshot.

He stared at Alaric’s arm around my waist, chest heaving.

“Selene, tell me this isn’t real!”

“You’re just mad at me, aren’t you? Mad I didn’t dive for the pearl that day-so you hired someone to act as your groom!”

He reached for my arm.

Alaric stepped between us. “Back off.”

Blaze ignored him, pleading through the rain.

“I’m sorry, Selene. Something urgent came up that day.”

“Lilith was in pain-I couldn’t just leave her!”

“Come back with me. Tomorrow we’ll go to the Moon Temple. I swear I’ll treat you better from now

on!”

i stepped out from behind Alaric, laughing coldly. “Are you blind? Can’t you see I’m happily

mated?”

“We’ve already marked each other.”

“No…. you’re just trying to make me jealous…” Blaze’s voice cracked. “Break the bond with him. I’ll

pretend none of this ever happened-”

“Blaze, are you actually insane?” The irony was almost too much.

“Lilith has stomach cramps, you run to her. She has period pain, you cook for her. She has a birthday, you ignore me getting hit by a car.”

“If you love her so much, go mark her. Why are you here?”

“Do I look that cheap to you?”

Blaze went ghost-pale, shaking his head frantically.

“No, Selene-I only took care of her. The person I wanted to mark was always you. The person I love is you.”

“You love me, but you left me stranded on the highway in the pouring rain for four hours until I had a fever for seven days?”

“You love me, but you bought Lilith a diamond while calling me vain for wanting one?”

“You love me, but when my leg was crushed under a wheel, you stayed with her instead?”

“That’s your idea of love?”

I looked him up and down, mockery dripping from every word.

“Your love is worthless.”

Blaze staggered back, face drained of all color.
