Rejected by My Destined Mate, Now He Craves Me Chapter 14

“Alpha Zephyr, here’s the file you asked me to investigate.” 

The beta placed a folder on the table. 

Zephyr opened it. Inside were bills from the healer’s den. 

They clearly showed Selene falling critically ill at age three, 

needing cord blood urgently. 

Nova was only born to save Selene. No wonder her father 

treated her like an accessory. 

Zephyr’s hand tightened around the paper. 

He had always wondered about Orion and Isadora’s blatant 

favoritism, but he’d never imagined the root cause. 

Also in the folder was a damaged looking phone. 

Zephyr recognized it. It was one Nova used to use. 

The beta had traced the last known location of her SIM card through call logs. Then he had data technicians recover what 

was on it. 

Now it was in Zephyr’s hands. 

He stared at the four–digit lock code on the screen, hesitating. 

Then he entered 0616. 

The screen unlocked with a click. 

His eyes instantly reddened. Because June 16th was Zephyr’s 

birthday. 

He checked the apps. Most of her accounts were logged out. 

All that remained were some old photos and a few messages. 

Scrolling through the photo gallery, he saw pictures of flowers on the roadside, pictures of clouds. 

But mostly, pictures of Zephyr. 

From their school days, to the time after he lost his sight. Nova had kept every single photo. 

Even a class group photo from school. She had saved it. 

Zephyr felt a sharp pang in his heart. 

She had loved him so quietly, in so many unnoticed ways. 

She stayed with him even when the Mooncrest Pack abandoned him. 

He couldn’t forget the nights they spent together, huddled for warmth. Or the sincerity of Nova’s heart. 

Her love had always been like that. Quiet and deep. Like a calm, rippleless lake. Gentle, but crystal clear. 

Opening the messages, Zephyr was surprised to see that the person who had texted Nova the most was Selene. 

The messages contained wedding dress photos, intimate everyday photos. Selene had sent them all to Nova. 

With each message he read, Zephyr’s heart grew heavier. 

Mixed in with the photos were messages like these: 

[Nova, I heard you went to see Zephyr again today. Do you have no shame? Zephyr is your brother–in–law now. What are you trying to do, seducing your sister’s husband?] 

[Don’t you get it yet? I’m the only one who gets to be with Zephyr. Mom and Dad have already agreed to help me. Stop being so delusional!] 

[You’ve been nothing but an accessory your whole life. You probably wouldn’t even exist without me. So you better face reality!] 

[Whatever I want, you have to give it to me. Even Zephyr. Unless you’re not part of the Ravencrest Pack anymore!] 

Reading these messages, Zephyr’s anger reached its peak. 

The scheme to replace Nova was far more twisted than he had 

imagined. 

This whole disaster happened because of Selene’s selfishness. And her parents‘ unconditional indulgence. 

It was the only reason he and Nova had been kept apart. 

With the picture clear, the solution became simple. 

Since Orion and Isadora had delivered themselves to him, and 

Selene was the main culprit, he certainly wasn’t going to let 

her off easy. 

Zephyr had the beta bring Selene to him immediately. 

Selene, who had locked herself in her room, was thrilled when 

she heard Zephyr wanted to see her. 

She thought Orion and Isadora’s persuasion had worked. 

So she changed her clothes, carefully did her makeup, and 

leisurely followed the beta. 

“Remember, drive slowly. I don’t want to ruin my new 

makeup!” Selene said smugly, checking her reflection in the 

mirror. 

She had always been like this. Except when she needed to be 

more restrained around Zephyr. 

The beta didn’t argue. He just gave her a long, strange look. 

The kind of look you give someone who’s about to die. 

Because he knew Zephyr better than anyone. 

Selene was in for a rough time.
