Rejected by My Destined Mate, Now He Craves Me Chapter 13

It was late by the time we headed back. 

Kaelen called a car and even checked in advance if the driver could take the cat. 

When the driver arrived, he looked at me. His expression was a little odd. 

I leaned over and whispered to Kaelen, “What did he say?” 

“He said the cat is cute.” Kaelen’s voice was perfectly natural. 

“Really?” I held Summer a little tighter. 

Kaelen laughed softly. “No, I lied.” 

I didn’t say anything, but I held the cat even closer. 

He looked at me, his smile light. 

When we got to his building, I handed Summer over to him. 

Back at my place, I took a shower. 

Just as I came out, my phone buzzed. 

It was a news alert. 

The headline was striking. 

[Chaos at the Mooncrest Pack Mating Ceremony, Zephyr Calls 

it Off.] 

He didn’t complete the ceremony. He just announced, “She’s 

not my true mate.” 

In the photos, the altar was covered in sunflowers. Just like I 

had once described. 

I stared at the screen for a few seconds. Then I slowly scrolled 

down. 

I saw the report that the audio tape had been played. So he finally heard it. 

But it was too late. 

I closed the page and unfollowed the news. 

No hesitation. No looking back. 

Everything related to the Mooncrest Pack stopped being my 

concern from that moment on. 

Zephyr stood by the tall floor–to–ceiling window, holding a 

freshly lit cigarette. 

Ever since he realized Nova was the one he was looking for, he 

had immediately launched a city–wide search. But there was 

still no news. 

Even his contact attempts showed her number was 

disconnected. 

He felt both guilt and desperation. 

Guilt for not recognizing her sooner. 

Desperation because he had done such terrible things and 

didn’t even have a chance to explain. 

All he could think about right now was finding Nova. 

Hearing a knock, he extinguished the cigarette. 

“I heard you’re planning to tell the Mooncrest Pack elders about this. Is that meant as a threat against me?” Zephyr’s 

voice was cold. 

Orion, who had just entered the room, shivered involuntarily. The temperature seemed to drop several degrees. 

“No, no, that’s not what I meant at all.” 

“I just don’t want to see you ruin this mate bond.” 

Facing Zephyr, Orion instantly lost his arrogance. His tone 

was almost fawning. 

“Mate bond? Do you take me for a fool, Ravencrest Pack?” Zephyr laughed coldly. 

The pressure in his gaze made Orion afraid to look up. 

But thinking of his daughter at home, starving herself, he spoke anyway. “Selene’s mother and I are both very happy with you. How could we think you’re a fool?” 

“You and Selene get along so well. Does it really matter if she’s the one who took care of you?” 

“I was thinking, why don’t you just go along with it?” 

Orion’s shameless words left Zephyr speechless. 

“So you’re saying the one who took care of me wasn’t Selene, it was Nova, right?” 

“If you don’t tell me the truth, I’ll throw you out this window 

right now.” 

Zephyr grabbed Orion by the collar. 

Orion, already scared witless, collapsed to the floor after glancing out the window. 

“Yes, yes, it was Nova, not Selene.” 

“We didn’t know at first. Selene told us you were looking for someone, and that person sounded a lot like Nova.” 

“So we let Selene take Nova’s place. And that bracelet, it belongs to Nova too.” 

Zephyr lowered his gaze. “Since you approve of me so much, what difference does it make which daughter I marry? Why did 

you have to lie?” 

When it came to the differences between his daughters, Orion spoke frankly. “Selene is smart, beautiful, and has strong Alpha blood. She’s the hope of the Ravencrest Pack.” 

“Nova barely has any Alpha heritage at all. Of course it’s different…” 

In his heart, Selene was his real daughter. He didn’t care about 

Nova. 

If Selene wanted something, then as her father, he had to get it 

for her. 

Listening to Orion so blatantly favor one daughter over the 

other, Zephyr finally understood why Nova had voluntarily cut 

ties. 

His heart ached for her even more. 

“So where is Nova now? Did you hide her?” Zephyr’s voice was 

urgent. 

“She’s gone to Nocthaven.” 

“Do you have an exact address?” 

Orion shook his head. 

Seeing no trace of remorse on Orion’s face, Zephyr had his 

beta restrain him and threw Isadora, who was waiting 

downstairs, into the basement with him. 

Orion looked incredulous. “I told you everything! How can you 

do this?” 

“Zephyr, aren’t you afraid of karma?” 

Orion’s shouts faded quickly. The only sound left in the room was the steady ticking of the clock. 

Zephyr walked to the window and tried to light another cigarette, but couldn’t. 

In a fit of rage, he smashed the ashtray on the floor. Glass 

shards scattered everywhere. 

A shard cut his arm, drawing blood. He felt the sharp sting, but 

it didn’t matter. 

Nova. Where are you? 

I know the truth now.
