Reincarnation Failed, I Became A Cat To Save The True Heiress Chapter 07

Two words. They hit like a sledgehammer.

Julian stopped laughing. He stared at Alistair.

“What do you mean?” Alistair turned the phone toward him.

A live news broadcast was playing on the screen.

“Authorities have broken up a massive cross-border money laundering operation.”

“All shell companies tied to the operation have been seized. Billions in assets have been frozen and recovered.”

“Federal authorities have frozen offshore accounts belonging to the operation’s primary suspect,

Julian.”

Julian’s eyes locked on the company names scrolling across the screen.

Every single one. Three years of work, every company he’d built, listed on screen.

“No. No, that’s impossible!”

He thrashed against the men.

“I buried everything! There’s no way you could’ve found it!”

Alistair looked down at him the way you’d look at gum on your shoe.

“You really thought three years inside this family was enough to take us down?”

“I had you investigated the day you walked through our door, I knew everything.”

“Every file you stole was a fake. I had them planted for you.”

“Every dollar you moved, I was watching.”

“I kept you around so you’d lead me to the network behind you.”

“The net’s closed. And you’re done.”

The color drained from Julian’s face.

Every scheme he’d ever believed was brilliant had been a puppet show, and Alistair had been

holding the strings.

He collapsed. No fight left.

Chloe fell apart.

She dragged herself to Serena’s feet, falling to her knees and reaching for her gown.

“Serena! Please… for everything we had, for all those years… please forgive me!”

“Take the baby! I’ll do anything. I’ll do whatever you want, anything!”

Serena kicked her away without looking down.

“You’re bleeding on my feet.”

Heavy footsteps echoed down the hallway.

Officers filed into the room.

“Julian? Chloe?”

The lead officer held up an arrest warrant.

“You’re both under arrest. Attempted murder, embezzlement, money laundering, and that’s just the start. Let’s go.”

Cold steel snapped onto both of their wrists.

Julian didn’t resist. They dragged him out like dead weight.

Chloe screamed the whole way out.

The imposter was taken too, placed in the custody of child protective services.

As they took her out, her voice rang in my head one last time. [Let me go! I’m the real heiress! I’ll destroy all of you!]

I watched her go.

[Good luck, kid. You’re going to need it.]

The room emptied out.

Serena’s eyes followed them to the door, and the tension holding her together finally snapped.

Her knees gave out. She dropped.

“Serena!” Alistair caught her before she hit the ground.

Her face had gone white, and a thick stream of dark blood trickled from the corner of her mouth.

The poison had finally caught up to her.

“I need a doctor. Now!”

Alistair’s composure cracked for the first time.

A medical team swarmed in and rushed Serena to the ICU.

I watched them wheel her away, and my chest went tight.

I tried to follow. The world tilted sideways.

Everything I’d been running on-adrenaline, fury, sheer stubbornness-evaporated. The shattered claws. The internal damage. All of it hit me at once.

My vision went dark, and I hit the floor.

Blood dripped from my nose and mouth, spreading across the tile.

In the nurse’s arms, the baby saw me go down and started to wail.

[Kitty! Don’t die!]

[I will ask the angels to save you! Please wake up!]

Her voice found me in the dark. I fought to open my eyes.

[Don’t cry, little one. I’ve still got a hundred years in me, remember?]

[This? This is nothing… I’m not going anywhere…]

The dark swallowed me whole.
