Regret of Two Alphas: I Married the Lycan King Chapter 03

Arwen, who had been hiding behind them, slid to her knees in front of me, tears streaming down her face.

“Valeria, I always thought of you as family. Why would you accept a proposal on my behalf? Now they’ve even sent wedding gifts.”

Evander’s eyes were red. The usually composed man’s voice cracked. “Valeria, I’m beyond disappointed in you.”

“If Arwen forms a mate bond, what are we supposed to do?”

“Do you have any idea how much it would hurt us if Arwen bonded with someone else? You make me sick.”

I opened my mouth, but no words came out.

I wanted to ask them, if I formed a mate bond, would it hurt you? But I didn’t.

They wouldn’t believe me anyway. Just like now, they wouldn’t believe that Arwen had orchestrated all of this herself.

Finally, Evander said decisively. “Arwen, you’re staying with us from now on. I’m not letting anyone force you into it.”

He shot me a pointed look as he said it. I froze.

This had always been our secret place. Evander and Jareth never allowed anyone else inside.

But now they were breaking that rule for Arwen.

Just like how they had insisted on bringing Arwen to my birthday party, that used to be just ours.

Arwen shrank back and looked at me nervously. “Valeria, will you be staying with us too?”

Before I could answer, Jareth cut in. “Her? After the huge mistake she made, what right does she have to stay here? Get out and figure your shit out.”

“Arwen, you’re just too nice. If you really did end up bonding with someone, Evander and I would honestly go insane.”

Rain poured down outside. Jareth looked at me as if I were his enemy.

He shoved me out the door without another word.

But three years ago, he had begged me to move in here.

I started to panic. When I was little, I nearly got kidnapped on a rainy day. I was terrified of storms like this.

Desperately, I looked at Evander and blurted out, “I didn’t do it. I didn’t force her. Please don’t kick me out.”

I had a congenital heart condition. In this state, I was genuinely afraid something could go wrong.

His mother used to work long hours when we were kids, often going days without cooking for him. I used to carry him meals every day.

I hoped he’d remember what we had and believe me, just this once.

But instead, the hesitation faded, replaced by disappointment. “Arwen cooks for me from scratch on my birthday. What makes you think someone like her would lie to me?”

“Valeria, go outside and think about what you’ve done.”

Evander’s word was final.

Together, the two of them threw me into the woods next to the villa.

I wasn’t strong enough to fight back.

Thunder cracked overhead. They ignored my desperate pleas.

They walked away without looking back.

I clutched my chest, grabbed a branch for support, and forced myself to keep going.

By flashes of lightning, I barely managed to find an abandoned security booth.

I was completely soaked.

My phone rang twice. I answered.

“Valeria, this is bad. Alpha says he’s removing you from your position and replacing you with Arwen. Valeria, you need to talk to him.”

“Arwen doesn’t know anything. She’s going to ruin the pack. You two grew up together. He listens to you more than anyone.”

I laughed bitterly. That was in the past. As for now…

My phone buzzed again. A rare text from Jareth.

The last time he texted me was on my birthday, telling me he was bringing Arwen and that it wasn’t up for discussion.

This time he said, “You’ve hurt Arwen badly. You need to make it up to her. You can start from an entry level position. Arwen is taking over your job.”

I didn’t respond. I hung up on my subordinate and typed out a text message.

I was done with this place.
