Reborn to Watch Him Regret Choosing My Twin Chapter 08

Reborn to Watch Him Regret Choosing My Twin Chapter 08

My back hit the door. The pain was sharp.

A shadow pressed in. I turned my head away. His breath spilled hot against my neck. Warm. Nauseating.

“Brother–in–law-”

“Call me Sterling.”

Lips came down. The cold–wet slide crawled up my throat. I shoved him back, hard.

“Get out.”

He stumbled half a step. His hand came up to wipe the wetness from his mouth. His stare pressed forward,

relentless.

“Clara Nash. You don’t love him.”

I had no idea what the hell had gotten into him.

“Feelings from a blind date start from zero. Worst case, we marry first and figure it out later.”

I meant it to piss him off. It worked.

He stepped closer, planted a hand by my head, and leaned down.

“Clara Nash. Don’t turn your marriage into a joke just to punish me.

I lifted my head. My lips were a centimeter from his. Vstared straight into his eyes.

“How do you know I won’t fall in love with him?”

“I’ve seen the way you love someone. I can tell at a glance whether you love him or not.”

He inched closer. I suddenly laughed.

“What’s funny?”

I looked at his mouth.

“So what? If I said I don’t love him, if I said it’s still you I love–what are you going to do?”

Warm breath tangled between our lips. Half a centimeter. He didn’t move forward.

I leaned in. His pupils shook. He jerked back half a step. His throat bobbed.

“Answer me. Would you divorce Mira Nash and marry me?”

I didn’t know if it was her name waking up whatever shred of decency a husband should have, or if the word

“divorce” stabbed too deep.

His Tips pressed thin.

“Clara. Mira is innocent. Tonight, tell Dad the engagement’s off. I’ll come check on you at the apartment

regularly.”

“As for the manor–stay away for now. Mira’s health can’t handle the stress.”

Three years later, and my chest still ached. But requldn’t tell anymore if it was from the betrayal or from envying how many people protected Mira.

I just knew the man I’d once burned myself alive to love was rotten at the core. Maybe he always had been.

“Sterling Sawyer. You loved me so much back then. I never saw when you fell for Mira either.”

I pushed him aside. Easy.

“You know love can change. So how do you know I won’t fall for Grey Grant later?”

I opened the door.

“Either you leave, or I do.”

He grabbed my hand. His voice scraped out.

“Don’t rush into this.”

I pried his fingers off.

“Not your concern. Go comfort Mira.”

That night, I moved out of the manor.

I didn’t have much. Three years away. Everything I needed fit into a single suitcase I’d brought back with

me.
Before Grey arrived, my dad found me first. Not for a touching father–daughter moment.

“That fifteen percent from Grant Holdings. Have your sister sign for it when the time comes.”

My hand slipped off my suitcase handle. I looked at him, searching for even a flicker of guilt. Nothing.

In his dictionary, everything concerning me fell under “obvious and natural.”

“Dad. Maybe I should call you Mr. Nash. Because I seriously doubt I’m your daughter.” I looked down at the weeds clinging to life by the steps and sighed. “But unfortunately, the lab report says I’m your biological child.”

He looked at me like the sky had just collapsed.

“You actually got a DNA test?”

Headlights cut through the dark ahead. I grabbed my suitcase and started walking.

“Doesn’t matter now. I’m not signing a damn thing over to her. If she wants something, she can get it from

her husband.”

“If your brother–in–law had that kind of money, he wouldn‘

He cut himself off. I paused for a step. I didn’t press.

Grey loaded my suitcase into the trunk and opened the passenger door.

I reached for the seatbelt. He suddenly leaned in. A sharp, cold pine scent flooded my senses. It smelled good.

His hand grabbed the belt and clicked it into place. He lingered for a few seconds.

Then he straightened up, adjusted his posture, and brushed a knuckle under his nose. It looked exactly like

someone wiping away the evidence after a kiss.

Something tugged at my awareness. I looked up at the second–floor terrace.

A tall figure stood there.

I almost laughed. I glanced at Grey, who was pretending to be stone–faced beside me. “Didn’t know you could be this childish.”

He gave a cold little humph. Almost arrogant.

I couldn’t help it. I reached over and ruffled his hair.

He went completely stiff.

“Let’s go, driver.”

The engine roared to life. It carried off the words curling at the corner of his mouth.

“Got it.”

The move went fast.

He didn’t linger. He said it was late, put on his serious face, and headed downstairs. But compared to when he’d arrived, his pace was glacial. Two steps forward, three stretched out.

I smothered a laugh, ignored him, and shut the door.

He made it downstairs fast enough after that. Then he stood at the base of the building, staring up for a long

time

I stayed behind the curtain. I still stuck one hand out and gave him a little wave.

The engine hummed agai

A message lit up my phone.

[See you tomorrow, Clara.)

I typed back.

[See you tomorrow.]
