Reborn to Watch Him Regret Choosing My Twin Chapter 09

The next day, my friends threw me a welcome–back party.

Everyone we’d grown up with came. Mira never missed a gathering like this.

She walked in wearing a fitted blue dress, Sterling on her arm. Every head turned.

But the glances were awkward.

Almost everyone in that room had witnessed the great bride swap firsthand.

Mira didn’t notice the stiffness at all. She dragged Sterling down onto the seat to my left. “Clara, why didn’t

you invite us? We’ve all known each other since we were kids.‘

The lively chatter stalled.

One of our college friends stepped up to break the ice. “Mira, you made it! We heard you’re trying for a baby. Wishing you both all the luck.”

Mira smiled, soaking it in. “It’s been rough. My health is so delicate. These three years have been so hard on

Sterling.”

The comment was a little explicit. Between close friends, maybe no big deal.

But with me, the ex–girlfriend, sitting right there, it was pure provocation.

Our friend shot me a look, smiled tightly, and mumbled something. “Yeah. It’s tough on everyone.”

Mira clearly wasn’t about to waste the opening. “At least our relationship is solid. We’ve been together this long and we’re still not tired of each other.”

Someone raised an eyebrow.

“Haven’t you only been married three years?”

Three years ago, he was with me.

No one dared say that out loud.

Sterling seemed to know exactly what Mira was about to say. He pressed a hand over hers.

“Alright, that’s enough. All these people here. Don’t you have any shame?”

She swatted his hand away. “You’re the shy one, not me.”

She turned to the group. “You guys don’t know this. Senior year of high school, I kissed him after class one day. His face went so red it was almost purple. Like, full–on tomato mode.”

She spun on him. “Tell the truth. You were already into me back then, weren’t you? You stubborn bastard.”

“Enough!“.

Sterling’s voice dropped Hike a hammer. The room went silent again.

Everyone exchanged looks. Something sharper flickered in their eyes. Mockery.

Because no one knew. Apparently, they’d started that early.

Back then, Sterling and I were the golden couple everyone knew. Strangers posted videos of us and racked up millions of views.

Everyone thought we’d make it to the end.

No one imagined that fairy–tale love was rotten underneath. Disgusting.

“Isn’t this a party? Why’s it so quiet?”
