Reborn: Getting Back My Real Son Chapter 05

The moment I mentioned Phillip, Judy completely lost control. She ignored every warning I tried to give her and instead latched onto the wrong idea entirely.

“I get it now. You’re jealous of my future villa, aren’t you? You want to take Phillip back!”

I was speechless. I didn’t even bofler responding and turned to leave.

I hadn’t expected that simple movement to set her off.

“Cindy! Even you think you can walk all over me? Don’t you dare!”

With a shriek, she grabbed a nearby clothing rod and charged at me.

Before I could dodge, a smaller but much faster figure rushed in front of me and slammed into her with full force.

Axel might still be young, but his little body was already solid. Judy wasn’t prepared for the impact-he knocked her straight off her feet, sending her crashing to the ground.

Then he planted himself in front of me, using his not-yet-grown frame as a shield.

“Don’t you dare bully my mom.”

His voice made my sister’s expression flicker.

She stared at Axel for a long moment, as if she were only now recognizing the son she’d known in her last lifetime. Her voice trembled with disbelief.

“Impossible. Weren’t you a little mad dog? You’re supposed to hate her. How could you possibly be protecting her like this?”

Of course she was shocked. In the previous life she remembered, Axel had treated her very differently.

I didn’t bother explaining. I simply smiled, rested my hand on Axel’s head, and told him gently, “Next time something like this happens, don’t run out so recklessly. Stay behind me. I can handle it on my own.”

He pouted, looking aggrieved.

“But I was scared you’d get hurt… or bullied.”

After a moment of forced calm, my sister’s breathing steadied again. She lifted her eyes, now brimming with

contempt.

“No idea what kind of poison you fed him to make him listen to you like this. But so what? He’ll still grow up to be a useless street thug. You can cling to this little loser all you want. Just wait-one day you’ll die old and alone.”

She tried to stand, but the fall had twisted her ankle. She wobbled several times, failing each attempt.

Right then, Phillip-who had been hiding in a corner-tried to sneak away. She caught sight of him immediately.

“Sweetheart, I twisted my ankle. Come help me.”

Only then did Phillip step out, clearly reluctant. When he reached her side, he immediately wrinkled his nose in disgust.

“Why did you come out dressed like that?” he muttered.

His expression was full of disdain.

“There are a few classmates waiting for me at the mall entrance. I’ve been telling them my mom is a corporate executive. If they see you looking like this, I’m gonna be super embarrassed.”

And with that, Phillip didn’t spare her injury another thought-he bolted.

Although the ending was satisfying, Axel remained sullen after we returned home.

“She said I’ll grow up to be a street thug,” he muttered, frustrated. “But I’m going to be very successful-just watch. Otherwise, she’ll keep looking down on you. I don’t want her to mock you or bully you ever again.”
