Reborn: Getting Back My Real Son Chapter 04

Reborn: Getting Back My Real Son Chapter 04

My sister stumbled into view, disheveled and breathless.

It had been a long time since I’d last seen her, and Judy no longer resembled the refined, glamorous person she’d once been. Exhaustion clung to her like dust, making her look at least ten years older.

I’d heard the rumors: in order to raise Phillip into a future “big boss,” Judy-who once refused to lift even a finger -quit her job and devoted herself entirely to serving him. No wonder Ronald and Phillip were decked out head to toe in designer brands, while she walked out in an oil-stained apron, traces of chopped vegetables still clinging to the fabric.

And yet, despite all the hopes she’d pinned on her son, he was dreaming of replacing her with a prettier mother

When Judy saw Ronald holding that young woman’s arm so intimately, she snapped. Instead of going after her cheating husband, she lunged at the young woman.

“I’ll kill you, you shameless homewrecker!”

Sensing trouble, Phillip darted aside and hid behind a row of clothes.

The girl wasn’t fast enough. Judy clawed several red marks across her face and yanked her carefully styled hair into a tangled mess.

But the girl wasn’t weak. She seized an opening and landed several sharp slaps across Judy’s face, leaving her dazed and stumbling.

The two of them tumbled into a full-on brawl, quickly drawing a crowd.

I stood off to the side, quietly weighing who would win this round.

Years of housework had made my sister strong-stronger than that young woman, certainly. Sure enough, after a few exchanges, she began to overpower the girl.

But at the crucial moment, Ronald-who had been watching without lifting a finger-finally stepped forward. He shoved my sister away and pulled the young woman protectively into his arms.

“What is wrong with you? Kelly is Phillip’s teacher. She’s just helping pick out clothes for Phillip! Look at the mess you’ve caused!”

His eyes swept over my stunned sister with open disgust.

“Look at yourself. Acting like some street shrew. And you came out dressed like that? You’ve embarrassed me beyond belief. Judy, if you keep this up, don’t blame me for divorcing you.”

With that, he didn’t spare Judy another glance. As if simply being near her sullied him, he wrapped an arm around the beautiful young teacher and walked out of the mall.

Phillip took a step as if to follow, but when he noticed my sister’s red-rimmed eyes swiveling toward him, he shrank back into the clothing racks-resentful, unwilling, but terrified of being dragged into the mess he helped

create.

Judy stood there for a long moment, stunned, her carefully maintained expressions cracking one by one until everything collapsed.

Then she noticed me.

It was as if all the resentment she’d accumulated over the years finally found a target. Her voice rose to a shrill

pitch.

“Cindy! This is your doing, isn’t it?!”

She muttered to herself, “I knew it-how could Ronald fall for some vixen? It must’ve been you meddling behind the scenes. You must’ve been badmouthing me to Ronald, trying to sabotage our marriage. That vixen-you found her, didn’t you? You just can’t stand seeing me live a good life!”

Even now, she clung to her delusions.

I looked at her coolly, my voice sharp with mockery.

“Instead of blaming me, maybe you should worry more about your precious son. After all, that wonderful teacher was introduced to Ronald by your darling Phillip.”
