Reborn as Mogul Sons’ Foster Mom Chapter 09 Justice Served

That car!

Yes, that had to be it!

Without wasting a second, I turned to the officers and told them what I had figured out.

Their faces instantly grew serious.

“Where’s the car now?” one of them asked.

I thought for a moment and replied, “It should still be with the traffic police. After my sister died, I was so caught up with the funeral and looking after the five kids that I never got around to picking it up.”

The two officers exchanged a quick look, then said firmly, “We’ll get to the bottom of this.”

After that, they had someone take me back to the holding cell.

By then, Brittany and Nathan had also returned from giving their statements.

The moment they saw me, smugness filled their faces.

“Rough day, huh?” Brittany said with a mocking smile.

“Bet you didn’t think you’d end up behind bars after sending us away using dirty tricks,” Nathan sneered.

I glanced at them but said nothing.

No matter what they threw at me, I stayed quiet.

That only made them more irritated.

“Leilani! Still acting all innocent?” Nathan snapped. “You think silence will fix everything?”

“Hope you enjoy prison, murderer,” he spat.

That was enough.

I looked up at them slowly, meeting both their eyes. “Murderer?” I repeated with a cold smirk.

“Are you absolutely sure I’m the one who killed my

sister?

“Aren’t you scared? What if she comes back for revenge in the middle of the night?

“People say those who die with unfinished business don’t rest easy.”

At that, I caught the flicker of panic flash in Brittany’s eyes.

“Y-You’re talking nonsense! Ghosts aren’t real!” she stammered.

Nathan stepped in quickly. “Don’t try to scare us! Even if ghosts existed, your sister would be after you!”

“Oh, really?” I gave a short laugh but did not say anything else.

Roughly three hours passed before the cell door finally opened.

“Ms. Leilani Arnault, you’re free to go.”

When they heard that, Nathan and Brittany looked completely shocked.

“What? Officer, are you sure you didn’t mess up?” Nathan asked, clearly confused.

“This doesn’t make sense! She’s a murderer! How can you just let her walk out?” Brittany added, frowning in disbelief.

However, the police did not even bother responding.

I glanced over at the two of them and said coldly, “Everyone eventually faces the consequences of what they’ve done.

“What goes around comes around-and your time is up.”

With that, I walked out of the holding cell.

Back then, when Brittany and Nathan found out the quintuplets’ biological father was rich, they came up with a plan to kidnap the kids for ransom.

However, since my sister was the one taking care of them every day, they had no way to get close.

So instead, they decided to get rid of her.

They messed with her car’s brakes, which led to her death.

A month later, the trial was held.

Brittany and Nathan were both sentenced to life in prison for murder and slander.

As for Nathan’s mother, she got kicked out of the hospital for not paying her medical bills.

Out of basic decency, I arranged for her to go to a nursing home.

I heard the staff there were not exactly kind to the patients, so she was definitely in for a rough

time.

Today marks five years since my sister passed away.

I brought her favorite daisies to her grave.

“Don’t worry. I’ll take good care of the kids,” I said softly.

“And I’ll make sure I live a good life too.”

After saying goodbye, I left the cemetery, gently rubbing my baby bump.

The little ones were waiting back home, excited to hear how the checkup went, so I headed back to them with a full heart and a hopeful future.
