Pregnant, Panicked, and Chased by My CEO Husband Chapter 20

Pregnant, Panicked, and Chased by My CEO Husband Chapter 20

Many years ago, I was the one who raised Finn.

He was a snake, and I was afraid of snakes, so I had not wanted to save him at first.

“I’m a baby dragon. Are you blind?”

He lied to me, and I was a stupid ten-year-old.

My father had sold me to outlaws for three sacks of grain.

I ran into the mountains and found a snake that was on the verge of death.

That snake told me he was a dragon hatchling, and I actually believed him. I worked hard and raised him with everything I had.

We were both innocent and kind to the point of stupidity.

He was a supernatural serpent.

Once, when we went down from the mountain to look for food, I took pity on my seven-year-old brother and asked Finn to save him.

My brother’s whole body was covered in sores, and he had a terminal illness.

Finn bit him once, and he recovered. By the next day, he could get out of bed.

That was when the Sullivans set their sights on us.

At the time, I was planning to start a woodcarving business. I had only one carving knife and still needed a finer set of carving tools.

Finn had taken human form and was very good at writing, but he had only one quill and still needed a proper writing set.

We did not have enough money.

Back then, my father said, “Minnow, I was wrong all those years ago. We were poor, and I had no choice but to sell you. Come home now, all right?”

I said no.

He tried another angle. “It isn’t decent for you and that young man of yours to live alone up in the mountains.”

“It’s perfectly proper.”

He changed his wording again. “You two are barely getting by. I won’t force you. How about this? I’ll give you some money to make it up to you. I just want to have a meal with you.”

I said yes, but the money he gave me was not enough.

I sold my carving knife, added the money my father had given me, and bought Finn a fine writing set with quills, ink, and parchment.

After I went back, I fell ill.

Finn said, “Minnow, get up and look. I sold my quill and bought you a new set of carving tools.”

I could not breathe.

Finn fed me the antidote.

“Minnow, you’ll be okay. Take the medicine, and you’ll get better.”

Then sores broke out all over my body until I was covered in wounds.

Panicked and helpless, he bit me over and over, pouring his blood into me as he tried to keep me alive.

Just like he had saved my brother.

But the poison had been specially made by an occult practitioner my father had found.

There was no antidote.
