Oops! I Fell for My Love Coach Chapter 04

X didn’t feel guilty at all.

If anything, he seemed to enjoy it.

[Oh, my Peaches looks so gorgeous when she panics. I can only predict his normal routine. If he suddenly changes his plans, I can’t exactly stop him.]

My excitement died on the spot.

My luck was seriously rotten.

The first time I tried playing burglar, I ran straight into the owner coming home.

If Theron dragged me out, he would definitely think I was insane.

While my thoughts ran wild, footsteps sounded outside.

Through the crack in the wardrobe door, I saw him leaning against the headboard with his phone in his hand.

He was texting someone.

X’s message popped up right on time: [Where are you hiding now?]

I typed with shaking fingers: [I’m in his bedroom wardrobe. May the Moon Goddess please keep me from getting caught.]

Maybe it was just my guilty conscience, but the tall figure by the bed seemed to glance in my direction.

Only for a second before he turned and went into the bathroom.

I had just started breathing again when I noticed a scarf hanging in the corner.

The style and pattern looked exactly like the one I had bought last week.

My eyes lit up as a little thrill rose in my chest.

So Mr. Ice Face and I did have the same taste after all.

Water started running in the bathroom—he was taking a shower. This was my chance.

I carefully pushed open the wardrobe door, ready to slip out before he came back.

But just as my foot touched the floor, the phone Theron had tossed onto the bed suddenly started ringing.

It wasn’t even that loud, but in the dead-silent bedroom, it sounded way too obvious.

The water in the bathroom stopped at once.

A second later, the doorknob clicked.

Theron was coming out.

I panicked, scrambled backward, and slammed right into the back of the wardrobe with a muffled thud.

I was dead.

The footsteps outside clearly paused.

Then Theron stepped into his slippers and walked straight toward the wardrobe.

Through the slats, I clearly saw him wearing nothing but a white towel around his waist.

Water still dripped from his hair.

He stopped right in front of the wardrobe.

My palms were slick with sweat.

I clamped both hands over my mouth.

Just as he lifted his hand and was about to grab the handle, the phone on the bed rang again.

Theron paused.

Then he turned back to the bed, picked up the phone, and answered.

“Hello. It’s me.”

His voice carried the lazy rasp of someone fresh out of the shower.

But I was in no state to appreciate it.

My eyes locked on the goofy puppy phone case in his hand—the kind only one online store even sold.

Last month, I had sent that link to X.

I had told him the puppy looked like a dog I used to have.

Back then, X said he bought one.

So why did Theron have the same one?

Coincidence.

It had to be.

Theron listened to the call as he walked toward the balcony.

Then he slid the glass door shut behind him.

Now.

I shoved open the wardrobe door and practically crawled out of the bedroom.

Then I sprinted all the way to the entryway, shoved my shoes on, threw open the door, and ran.

I didn’t dare breathe properly until I was out of the neighborhood.

My phone vibrated in my pocket.

X: [You run pretty fast. Did you hit anything?]

I stared at the message, and my scalp went numb.

[How do you know I ran?]

X: [I hacked into the surveillance feed. I saw you bolt out like a rabbit, so I knew you got it done.]

That explanation did make sense.

But that goofy puppy phone case wouldn’t leave my head, and neither would the identical scarf.

I took a deep breath and typed a careful test: [I just saw Theron come out after his shower while I was hiding in the wardrobe.]

X replied in seconds: [What did you see? You’re not allowed to look at another man’s body!]

I deliberately tried to provoke him: [Nothing worth looking at. He was too skinny. No muscle at all. Total disappointment.]

The screen stayed quiet for a full three minutes.

When X finally replied, every word sounded like it had been forced through gritted teeth.

[What do you know? He looks lean with clothes on, but he’s built underneath!]

I pouted and ignored him.

That night, right before bed, I suddenly sat straight up.

An absolutely ridiculous thought started taking root in my mind.
