My Wedding Was Ruined By A Fake DNA Result Chapter 05

My body seemed to sink into boundless darkness.

At a certain moment, my body lightened. I opened my eyes again and saw the nurses and doctors who had

rushed into the ward.

They surrounded “me,” their eye sockets a little red.

I realized I could no longer feel my own body.

The nurse took the phone that “I” was tightly holding in my palm and opened the contacts. Dad didn’t answer.

Mom didn’t answer either. The nurse sighed, her tone full of sympathy.

“Those people who just left were they really the patient’s family?”

The doctor said nothing. The nurse pursed her lips and called my brother.

My brother answered the phone, but his tone was quite bad. Even while floating in the air I could hear the impatience in his voice.

“Enough. Aren’t you just having internal heat? Do you really want to compete with Serena over this?! Didn’t I already explain to you? Serena is pregnant! She’s having stomach pain right now and is getting checked. All right, stop bothering me!”

I found it somewhat ironic. I was clearly already a ghost. Why could I still feel sadness?

I drifted upward. Found them on the top floor – the VIP ward.

One day in that room cost more than my entire month of targeted therapy.

I never had that kind of money. I just endured the pain and kept going.

Serena lay in the bed, speaking with fake sincerity.

“Mom, Dad – I’m fine. Really. Don’t worry about me. The doctor said everything’s okay. The baby just kicked

– I panicked for nothing.”

–

“Faye’s alone down there. You should go be with her. I know she used to bully me, but she’s different now. She probably just faked the diagnosis to get your attention.”

So that’s what she said behind my back.

I wanted to confront her. Wanted to scream that it wasn’t true. But no sound came.

My mom covered her face, her expression pained.

“It’s our whole family who has let you down. I don’t know when Faye learned to be bad, actually bullying you

like this at school…”

My dad sighed.

“Don’t worry about her. She could still yell at us just now. How serious could it be.”

My mom came back to herself and finally remembered my last questioning just now.

“Does Faye know something? She just asked whether she is really our biological daughter. Is it…”

My brother interrupted Mom’s words from the side.

“As long as we don’t admit it, even if she knows, what can she do?”

Brother, you’re right. I have no way.

Just as you wished, from now on I will never bother you again.

My parents stayed with Serena. Hudson went downstairs to get her something to eat.

On the second floor, he passed a stretcher being wheeled away.

I saw his brow twitch. He turned and stared after it, dazed.

Then he went back to Serena’s room.

My father noticed his empty hands. “Where’s the food?”

I floated above them. I saw everything.

He looked unsettled. What was he unsettled about? Was he worried that gurney was me?

He fumbled with his phone, distracted. “Ordered takeout. It’ll be here soon.”

My parents didn’t push.

A little later, the food arrived.

My mother unpacked it, confused. “You ordered so much. Serena can’t finish all this.”

Hudson cleared his throat. “Serena can pick what she wants. The rest – I’ll take down to Faye.”

My father relaxed.

My mother paused. She spotted a box of strawberries and pulled it out separately.

“Faye loves strawberries. I’ll take this one down to her.”

–

I laughed bitter, empty.

Mom I haven’t eaten strawberries in five years.

I don’t love anything anymore.

I glanced at Serena. Saw the jealousy flicker behind her eyes.

My brother didn’t sit for long. He took the fruit and porridge and went downstairs. He stood at the door of my ward, hesitated for a good while, then knocked a few times. As a result, no one responded.

After waiting half a minute, he turned the handle.

When he saw that the ward was empty of anyone, his eyes widened.
