My Wedding Was Ruined By A Fake DNA Result Chapter 04

My brother and Serena arrived late. The moment they pushed the door open, they interrupted the doctor’s words.

Hudson’s eyes happened to meet mine. Out of habit he opened his mouth wanting to throw out a few sarcastic remarks, but when he saw my almost transparent lip color, he still subconsciously showed a few traces of concern.

“What’s wrong with her? How could you let her get this weak?!”

The doctor’s face hardened. “Instead of blaming us, maybe ask yourselves where her family’s been while she was sick. She’s been coming here alone for months.”

Serena shifted, looking unsure. Then she spoke, voice trembling.

“Faye… arguing with the doctor, saying she wanted a more serious diagnosis…”

My mother frowned. “Serena, what do you mean?”

Serena looked at me, then away. Her lips pressed together nervously, like she was afraid to say more.

My brother put a hand on her shoulder. “Don’t worry. Your brother’s here. Nothing’s going to happen to you.”

My chest spasmed with pain. I couldn’t stop coughing.

In the past, my brother often said this sentence to me as well.

From when did my brother become someone else’s brother?

The thorns he once raised for me had now become the knives that stabbed me.

Somehow, I clearly wanted to cry, yet no tears came out.

Serena’s lips curved up slightly, then quickly pressed back down.

“That day I came to the hospital with a friend and saw Faye at the door of the ward… threatening the doctor, saying she wanted the doctor to write her a more serious diagnosis…”

Her words stopped there.

The doctor’s voice snapped with anger. “Excuse me? What are you implying? This young lady came in months ago—”

Hudson took the doctor by the arm and guided him toward the door.

“Doctor, this is family business. Stay out of it. And if you did give her a fake diagnosis — I’m sure we’ll find out soon enough.”

My mother stood up, disappointment written all over her face.

“Faye. I thought you’d changed. But you’re still the same — lying through your teeth. Now you’re threatening doctors?” She shook her head. “You disgust me.”

My father’s veins bulged at his temples. He looked like he was about to explode.

“That’s enough. You’d joke about something like this? Drag us all the way to the hospital for a show? If you’re really sick, then deal with it yourself. Don’t call us. We’re not your real family.”

I widened my eyes. My chest felt unbearably heavy, and I struggled to stay calm.

My throat tightened, and I struggled to steady myself. I tried hard to stay calm, but my body still couldn’t stop trembling.

My eye sockets ached and swelled. I let out a cold laugh.

“Why do you believe everything Serena says? Am I even your biological daughter or not?! How long are you still going to keep acting?!”

My chest twisted with pain. I coughed hard once.

A sudden wave of weakness hit me, and I staggered.

The ward fell into a deathly silence.

My brother jolted forward, suddenly awake.

“Faye… what’s wrong?! What happened?!”

My mother reached out — her hand trembling — like she wanted to wipe the blood from my face.

“Faye — are you hiding something from us? What was the doctor about to—”

Then Serena let out a sharp cry.

“Mom — Dad — my stomach hurts…”

“Is the baby okay?!”

My mother spun around. My father rushed to support her.

Hudson froze. I saw him hesitate. Then he turned — and walked back toward Serena.

“Faye, you’ve always been strong. It’s probably just a fever. Get some rest and you’ll be fine.” He lifted Serena into his arms. “She’s carrying Julian’s baby. That’s two lives. I can’t take any risks.”

My parents hovered around them, fussing.

I reached out — wanting to touch them —

But my body was getting heavier.

That’s fine.

At least I won’t have to fight for their attention anymore.
