“WHAT exactly is huge, Annie? Use your words.”

“Lucien’s tail-hook is literally shaking right now. This incubus is fighting for his LIFE!

Lucien’s entire face turned violently red.

The veins along his forehead stood out sharply, like he was using every ounce of self-control he had left.

Meanwhile, the tail around my waist kept tightening instinctively.

Curious, I reached down and touched it.

The second my fingers brushed over the smooth black surface, Lucien shuddered hard.

It was warm.

Softer than I expected too, but still firm underneath, almost like dense muscle.

I rubbed it experimentally.

A muffled groan slipped from his throat.

Sweat had already begun gathering along his temples.

Black horns curved from his head now, sharp and elegant against dark hair.

Massive wings spread behind him, nearly swallowing the entire apartment in shadow.

His pupils had turned completely crimson.

Even his fangs looked longer now, pressing lightly into his lower lip.

The sight was so unfairly attractive that my throat suddenly felt dry.

I swallowed instinctively.

The second I did, Lucien’s eyes darkened even further.

He leaned closer unconsciously.

Like he physically couldn’t stop himself anymore.

But despite the terrifying appearance, the words leaving his mouth sounded almost painfully restrained.

His voice shook slightly.

The way he looked at me nearly made my heart stop.

Lucien lowered his head closer.

In those crimson eyes, I could clearly see my own flushed face reflected back at me.

He swallowed roughly.

Violent pounding suddenly exploded against the apartment door.

Vanessa’s shrill voice pierced straight through the tension.

“OPEN THIS DOOR!”

“You think you can hide after assaulting people?! I already called the police!”

“They’ll be here any minute!”

My expression instantly darkened.

Outside, Vanessa continued screaming hysterically.

“Annie Walker, you’ve really lost your mind!”

I’m your mother! How dare you hit me?!”

“Just wait until your father gets here and see what happens to you!”

Behind me, Lucien slowly closed his eyes.

The black wings behind him twitched once.

Then his tail tightened around my waist with terrifying possessiveness.

…I really,” he said quietly, “don’t like them.”
