My Rich Boyfriend Wanted Me to Spend More, So I Asked for an Electric Bike Chapter 07

I froze. Adrian-the man I’d pushed out of my mind last night-was watching.

I looked toward the camera and was about to ask him for help when Vanessa laughed coldly.

“Don’t be an idiot. Adrian’s overseas on business. You think he’s sitting around watching

livestreams?”

She narrowed her eyes at me.

“You hired that account, didn’t you?”

I frowned. “When would I have done that? I haven’t even touched my phone.”

Vanessa gave me a look of contempt.

“Gold diggers like you work in groups. I’ve heard there are even classes that teach women how to please rich men. You must’ve taken one.”

I had no idea what she was talking about.

“Why would anyone need lessons for that? I never did anything special for Adrian…”

I’d left with Adrian on my very first night at the private club. All I’d done was pour him a glass of

wine.

So I truly had no idea what Vanessa meant.

But my answer enraged her.

She swung at me again. I dodged, only to slam my burned arm into the edge of the table. Pain shot through it, and cold sweat trickled down my back.

She motioned to her friends. They got up and slowly closed in around me.

“Who the hell do you think you are, rubbing it in my face? I guess I didn’t hit you hard enough last

time.”

At her signal, two of her friends grabbed my arms. Their hands crushed the burn, and I screamed.

They dragged me toward the broken pieces of the soup bowl scattered across the floor.

“We gave you a way out, you ungrateful bitch. Get on your knees!”

The owner’s wife stepped forward.

“Please. Don’t make this any worse.”

But her husband pulled her back and shook his head.

“They’re obviously rich and powerful. We can’t afford to get involved.”

The last person who’d tried to help me had backed away.

They forced me down toward the shards. I couldn’t stop them, and there was no one left to turn to.

Just before my knees struck the shards, the restaurant door slammed open.

Adrian stood in the doorway, his clothes rumpled and his expression murderous.

“I told you to keep your hands off her. Can’t any of you fucking read?”
