My Rich Boyfriend Wanted Me to Spend More, So I Asked for an Electric Bike Chapter 08

For a few seconds, no one moved.

Vanessa’s face changed all of a sudden. The malice vanished from her face, replaced by a gentle

smile.

“Adrian, why are you back so soon?”

He gave her a cold look.

“Do I have to report my schedule to you?”

Her smile faltered, but she stepped toward him.

“Of course you don’t. I just wanted to welcome you home properly. It’s been so long since we saw each other. We shouldn’t have to catch up in a dump like this.”

Adrian avoided her outstretched hand and strode straight to me.

The two people holding my arms took one look at him and let go. I tried to straighten, but my legs nearly gave out. Adrian caught me around the waist, careful not to touch my burned arm.

He looked stricken at the sight of it. Then he turned to the others, his voice cold.

“I want your last names. Every one of you.”

The threat in his voice silenced everyone.

No one dared answer. They looked to Vanessa for help, but for a moment, she looked just as

frightened.

She cleared her throat and softened her voice.

“Adrian, come on. She’s just a waitress. Besides, she spilled soup on my dress. We’ve known each other for years. You’re really going to turn on me over some broke girl?”

His expression didn’t soften.

“You think you mean as much to me as Chloe?”

The words struck Vanessa like a knife. Her face twisted.

“Adrian, have you lost your mind? You and I come from the same world. I’m the woman you should

marry.”

“Vanessa, whatever we had ended six years ago. The only woman I’m marrying is Chloe.”

Everyone in the restaurant heard him. So did everyone watching the livestream, which was still

running.

With a few words, he exposed Vanessa’s fantasy to the world and ground her pride beneath his heel.

I huddled against Adrian, too exhausted to care about their argument. The pain in my arm seemed to spread through my entire body.

“Adrian…” My voice came out hoarse. “Please stop talking. It hurts so much.”

He looked down at me, guilt crossing his face. Then he scooped me up and rushed for the door.

Vanessa stepped into his path, but her anger was aimed at me.

“Chloe, stop pretending to be some fragile little victim. You’re the one who spilled the soup. Don’t

act so innocent-”
