My Poor Online Boyfriend Pulled Up in a Rolls Royce Chapter 01

We both called the police on each other.

The officer asked who had scammed whom.

I said he had pretended to be poor to trick me into falling for him. He said I had pretended to be rich to toy with his heart.

The officer stared at our bank statements for a long time.

Then he asked me, “You have $38,000 in your account, and you think you’re rich?”

Huh? Was there a problem with that?

Then he asked Crystal Lake, “You have $800 million in your account, and you think you’re poor?”

He answered with perfect confidence.

Huh… was there a problem with that?

The officer slapped his thigh and turned to his coworker, laughing. “This is hilarious. These two have very unique definitions of rich and poor.”

Both of us flushed with anger and glared at each other.

He wore a sharp suit, an expensive watch, polished dress shoes, and a luxury belt. He looked like he had come here for a board meeting.

I wore a dark leather jacket, casual pants, and sneakers. I looked like I had come to collect a debt.

The officer told us to settle it amicably.

Crystal said coldly, “Settle what? She lied about being rich. I thought we were at least from similar backgrounds, but she came to meet me on a bike.”

My anger surged out of control.

“You have the nerve to say that? You told me your family was poor, so to protect your fragile self-esteem, I didn’t even put on lipstick! And then what? You drove a Rolls-Royce!”

He said, completely unconvinced, “You gave me hope. Now that it’s turned out like this, you bear the main responsibility.”

“My God! You said you were poor, and now you’re this rich. Shouldn’t you compensate me for emotional damages?”

The officer hurriedly dragged our logic back to planet Earth.

He asked Crystal, “Why did you pretend to be poor?”

Crystal said stubbornly, “I really am poor!”

We both rolled our eyes at him.

Only then did he answer honestly, “My dad said I shouldn’t let people know about my wealth. He was afraid people would come after it.”

Then the officer asked me, “Why did you pretend to be rich?”

I answered with absolute confidence, “I really am rich!”

They all rolled their eyes at me.

“All right,” I admitted. “I was afraid people would think I was poor…”

The room fell silent.

The officer spoke helplessly. “Got it. Both of you were afraid the other person would judge you, and somehow it turned into this.”

Another officer muttered under his breath, “No wonder they managed to date online. These two really do think alike.”
