The car stopped in front of the Alliance station.

When Dad stepped inside, his face was a terrifying shade of pale.

The duty guard sorted through old files and quickly recalled the case from a year prior.

“Doyle was detained here in the middle of the night.”

“We don’t have detailed records on the incident. Word has it the girl fell from the building and was

rescued by outsiders. The case was transferred to Silverpine jurisdiction, and we no longer handle

follow-up work.”

Mom grabbed the guard’s arm anxiously, “Is that girl still alive?”

The guard shook his head.

“The officer in charge back then has been reassigned. You’ll need to contact the Silverpine

authorities for further details.”

He paused, glancing between the two with cautious eyes, “What is your relation to the girl?”

Dad’s features sank into gloom. After a long silence, he spoke in a hoarse tone.

“We are her birth parents.”

Surprise. Then an awkward silence filled with undisguised scrutiny. Of course. Their own flesh and blood, abandoned in a place like that, nearly killed.

And they, the parents, had only come asking after a full year.

Mom hung her head. Shame and regret surged like overwhelming tides, threatening to drown her

entirely.

Dad rasped out an order.

“I demand a meeting with Doyle.”

Formalities were completed swiftly.

As soon as Doyle spotted Dad through the partition glass, he snatched up the communication phone

in excitement.

“Alpha, have you come to set me free?”

Dad stared at him coldly, “Where is my daughter?”

“Your… daughter?” Doyle froze, catching on fast. “You’re the one who texted me! Said you didn’t want the little bitch anymore!”

“Told me to do whatever I wanted with her, just keep her away from Blackwood!”

Mom snatched the phone away in a frenzy, her eyes blazing red with rage.

“You lie!”

“That is my child, my Leanna!”

“We paid you to care for her for a year, not to harm her!”

“Doyle, how could you do this? I will never forgive you, not for the rest of my life!”

Doyle looked at Dad’s livid face, then at the utterly distraught Mom, and finally grasped the truth.

His complexion turned as pale as paper.

He knew full well the Blackwood Alpha held enough power to lock him away in the Council prison

forever.

He pressed frantically against the glass, eyes wide with terror.

“This has nothing to do with me, Alpha!”

“I swear I’m innocent!”

You personally sent messages saying you discarded that unwanted child and left her fate entirely up

to me.

“I still have the proof on my phone. Check it if you doubt me!”

“I truly believed you abandoned her, that’s why I acted recklessly…”

His voice trembled with growing panic.

“I would never dare lay a finger on her if I knew she remained the princess of Blackwood Pack!”

Dad suppressed his boiling fury, uttering each word through gritted teeth.

“Where is my daughter now?”

“I have no idea.”

Dad rose to his feet, his gaze hollow and lifeless.

“Three years is far too lenient.”

“You dared hurt my daughter.”

“You will never walk free again.”

Doyle banged wildly on the glass, shouting after their retreating figures.

“Alpha! Alpha Maxwell! You cannot do this!”

“You were the ones who abandoned her!”

“You sent her to me!”

Council guards dragged him away.

The moment they were outside, Mom collapsed.

Dad had staff take her to the hospital.

Then he sat alone in the car, unmoving, for a long time.

Half an hour later, his beta assistant hurried up, tapped on the window, and handed over a thick file.

“Alpha… you should prepare yourself.”
