My Parents Chose My Twin and Called Me Fake? Fine—I Found a Better Alpha Father! Chapter 02

The next day, I went out to buy sanitary pads.

The cashier informed me my balance was insufficient when I went to pay.

That couldn’t be right. I had two hundred dollars in that account. I was sure of it.

I headed back home empty-handed.

I pushed open the door to the pack lodge.

The three of them sat around the dining table, chatting and laughing merrily. A gift bag sat in the middle of the table.

Mom was cradling a scarf as if it were woven from moonlight, stroking it over and over. “My darling Hannah, you’re so thoughtful. This means the world to me.”

Dad twirled a plastic cup in his hand, grinning from ear to ear.

“Dad loves it too. You truly are my precious daughter.”

Hannah leaned against Mom’s shoulder, pouting. “But they only cost two hundred dollars. You don’t think that’s too cheap, do you?”

Mom shook her head right away.

“Not in the slightest. Anything from my darling is precious, no matter the price.”

Dad didn’t miss the chance to put me down and lift her up. “Exactly. Not like Leanna, who only knows how to spend the Pack’s money and has never gotten us a thing. So ungrateful. She’s not fit to hold a candle to our Hannah.”

They noticed my presence, and their conversation halted abruptly.

Hannah tilted her head toward me, her smile filled with malice.

Two hundred dollars. Two months of living expenses, all my savings.

Cold dread washed over me, and my mind felt as if it exploded violently.

I grabbed Hannah’s wrist and raised my hand before I could think straight.

My blow never landed, for Dad kicked me harshly backward.

My back crashed hard against the sharp corner of the tea table.

Intense pain blurred my vision.

Hannah held up her arm, barely a faint red mark visible on her skin, yet she burst into loud cries.

“Dad! Mom! It hurts badly. Did I break my arm?”

Mom shouted in panic, “Fetch the healer at once!”

Dad quickly grabbed his car keys.

“There is no time to wait. I will drive Hannah to the hospital immediately.”

Hannah pointed straight at me sprawled on the floor.

“I refuse to ride in the car. She hurt me, so she has to carry me all the way there.”

The nearest hospital was thirteen miles away.

Mom fixed me with a frigid gaze.

“We will follow Hannah’s wish.”

Seeing I struggled to rise, Dad marched over and dragged me to my feet.

“Stop pretending to be hurt. It is just a minor knock.”

“Hurry and carry her to the clinic. If my daughter suffers any more harm, I will drive you out of the pack right now.”

I knew he meant every word.

Yet I could not leave, not at this moment.

I crouched down, lifted Hannah onto my back, and stumbled forward toward the clinic.

Dad drove slowly behind me in his car.

He shouted nonstop, “Hold her steady, Leanna. Drop my daughter, and you will face severe punishment.”

Mom frowned and urged sharply, “Walk faster! Do not delay her treatment.”

Hannah rested on my back, wearing a triumphant grin.

“No one in this pack loves you at all.”

“You are nothing but an unwanted stray.”

These words once stabbed me deeply, but now I felt completely numb.

Hannah fell silent when I gave no reaction.

Just before we reached the clinic gate, she drove a safety pin hidden in her pocket sharply into my back.

I winced in agony and tumbled heavily onto the ground.

My parents parked their car by the road and rushed over instantly.

They pulled Hannah away from me and hurried toward the clinic entrance.

Mom glanced back briefly.

“You have already walked this far. Go see the doctor alone. We have no spare time for you.”

I did not step inside.

I had no money left at all.

I sat on the stone steps until night fell, then made my way back home.

I opened the door, and they were already waiting for me.

Two unfamiliar middle-aged men stood with them.

They wore stained jackets, their hands fidgeting nervously. A strong smell of cheap liquor and stale tobacco clung to their bodies.

“The timing could not be better,” Dad said, nodding toward the strangers.

“These are your birth parents. You will leave with them today.”
