My Missing Boyfriend Was Alive, So I Chose His Best Friend Chapter 11

Tyler absolutely lost it. He would’ve rather believed he’d gone blind than accept what he’d just seen. But then I wrapped my arms around Gavin’s waist.

Tyler’s eyes flared red. He lunged, swinging at Gavin. He was no match. Gavin dodged while keeping me shielded the whole time.

“You owe me!” Tyler spat. “How dare you steal my girl!”

“First off, Hailey doesn’t belong to anyone. She’s her own person.’

“Second, you told me yourself-if I helped you pull this off, we’d be square. I held up my end.” He’d just done it in a rather unconventional way.

“That doesn’t mean you get to move in on her! Don’t you get how scummy that is?”

“Scummy? Yeah, that’s me.” Gavin smiled, his eyes going dark and devastatingly gorgeous.

“Tyler, from the moment you decided to lie to her, a scumbag like me was already planning his

move.”

Gavin physically threw Tyler out. I deleted his fingerprint from my door lock.

He stood out on the street all night in the pouring rain, soaked to the bone and looking all tragically heartbroken-like some sad, poetic mess.

It just made me want to gag. Remembering he’d slept with Lila made it ten times worse.

That night, I told Gavin to carry me to the window. The curtains and lamp behind us would paint our shadows clearly.

In the heat of it, Gavin sank his teeth into my shoulder and glanced through the curtain gap down at the street. “Looks like he’s about to lose his mind.”

“Let him.”

Gavin shuddered. “Hailey, I’m so damn happy.”

“Yeah?”

“I’ve been waiting for this day for a long time.”

Tyler did lose it. He kept calling us, then came back and pounded on the door. Eventually I called the

cops, and that shut him down.

Overnight, the livestream kept spreading. All thanks to Lila. Our broadcast wouldn’t have blown up this big on its own, but the second she mouthed off about “working class,” it went viral. Her background, her job-everything got dug up.

Moore Enterprises had barely released a PR statement when somebody leaked hard proof of Lila and Tyler’s affair. The footage was crystal clear.

Tyler was obviously wasted, leaning on Lila. “You’re really letting me crash at your place tonight? Aren’t you the least bit concerned??”

She rolled her eyes. “We’ve known each other forever. What’s there to be worried about?”

“Damn, you’re bold.”

“Wanna test that later and see who taps out first?”

They bickered their way inside. The camera kept rolling until unmistakable sounds leaked through the door. An off-camera voice snickered, “Damn, they’re going at it.”

Both their faces were clear, but everyone else’s voices were distorted. Impossible to tell who recorded it, or who spoke. But I knew. It had to be someone from their own inner circle. Only those people ever had that kind of access.

That night was Lila’s birthday. Gavin hadn’t gone. If not him, that left the other two guys. That little clique that looked so solid? It was a nest of resentment and backstabbing.

The affair proof shoved Tyler and Lila straight into the inferno. Vance Apparel got hammered with

customer returns-massive losses.

Right then, Tyler did the one thing he was best at. He pinned everything on Lila and scrubbed

himself clean.
