My Missing Boyfriend Was Alive, So I Chose His Best Friend Chapter 10

Lila’s words had already set the chat on fire. [Working class? EXCUSE ME?? My parents are working

class.]

[My grandparents were farmers. So what?]

[I’m gonna puke. What decade does this spoiled brat think she’s in?]

And after my question, the comments went nuclear. Gossip is human nature.

Lila’s face tightened. “Do you even get what childhood friends means? He shares everything with me. I’m the closest person to him besides his parents!”

A friend beside me snapped, “You two have zero boundaries!”

Another muttered, “Basically the other woman, just dressing it up as ‘friendship’ to feel superior.” “This is disgusting, Hailey. That guy isn’t worth it.”

That was enough. Lila’s scene could end here.

I faked exhaustion, sent everyone home, and ended the live.

Now it was time for the male lead. Lila had arrived first because Tyler was out of town that day. I had Gavin to thank for knowing exactly where everyone was at all times.

Tyler saw the livestream. He called me over and over. He sent a flood of apology texts. By nine p.m., he finally made it back to Ashford City, drained and frantic. He came straight to me, dragging Gavin

with him.

The second he saw me, he broke down. “Hailey, I swear I didn’t mean for it to go this far. I panicked and said yes to the plan. That’s it.”

I stared at him coldly. “Did you have fun this past month?”

“I’ve been miserable.” He actually dropped to his knees.

“At first I just wanted to teach you a little lesson so you’d chill out. But then I couldn’t sleep. Every

night, all I could think about was you…”

“All about me, and yet you still managed to buy another woman breakfast.”

Tyler’s jaw went slack. “I only see Lila as a friend. If you don’t like her, I’ll cut her off.”

“Honestly, I think you two are perfect for each other.”

“No, no, no.” He shook his head frantically. “I don’t feel anything for her. She’s spoiled rotten, her temper’s awful-I’ve been putting up with her for years.”

“Hailey, you’re the only one in my heart…”

“Stop. Tyler, you make me sick. Can you just get the hell away from me?”

I wasn’t budging, and Tyler panicked even harder. He spun around and grabbed Gavin for backup. “Gavin, help me talk to her.”

“Me?”

“You helped cover for me. You’re in this too. Say something.”

Gavin didn’t agree or disagree. He walked over to me, dipped his head, and pressed a soft kiss to my lips. “Hailey, you look absolutely hot when you’re pissed off.”
