The moment those images hit, all hell broke loose. People dragged Lila everywhere online. Her family’s restaurant got harassed and sabotaged.

Lila panicked. She released a statement, “We’ve known each other since we were kids. To him, Im basically one of the guys. It’s not like I was trying to seduce him.”

That defense just made the internet angrier.

Lila’s voice was thick with tears. “Gavin, you’re the only one who can help me now.”

He sounded bored. “Help you how?”

“I know you’re with Hailey now.”

“Yeah.”

“It’s just a fling, right? Your family’s in a completely different league. There’s no way you’d actually end up with some ordinary girl like her.”

“What do you mean by ‘ordinary girl”?” Gavin’s tone dropped cold. “We’re all ordinary people, Lila. After everything, what exactly are you still so high and mighty about?”

Lila choked but didn’t dare push him. “Look, just come forward and say Hailey orchestrated this whole thing to cheat on Tyler with you. That’s all you have to do. Once it’s done, I’ll introduce you to way hotter girls.”

Gavin let out a dry laugh. “In your dreams.”

She snapped. “Aren’t we friends?!”

“Without Hailey, I would’ve never been friends with any of you.”

“What… what are you talking about?”

“You don’t get it? Let me spell it out-the only reason I joined your pathetic little clique in the first place was Hailey.”

That hit me just as hard as it hit Lila.

Gavin went on, slow and deliberate. “I met Hailey freshman year. She left a huge impression. But I didn’t get her name or number in time. By the time I saw her again, she was already Tyler’s girlfriend.”

Lila sucked in a breath. “So you joined us just to…?”

“Exactly. To find the right moment to steal her.

“You’re insane! They dated for two years!”

“And I waited two years.” Gavin’s smile turned proud. “Good things come to those who wait. That moment finally came.”

“Then agreeing to cover for Tyler’s lie-was that also…?”

Gavin nodded. “On the surface, I was paying him back. But I had my own plan from the very start.”

In this massive circus, every single person had an agenda. Only Gavin had stayed hidden until the very end.

Lila’s face was sheet-white. “Gavin, you’re unbelievably calculating.”
