My Mean Boyfriend Had Two Completely Different Faces—So DO I Chapter 09

The friend watched Reid’s face carefully

But hey, don’t go too hard on her. No matter how much she

loves you, a girl has her pride. If she plays her cards right tonight, just give her an out.”

The tension in Reid’s brow finally eased. We’ll see.”

Truthfully, Reid was annoyed. He didn’t understand why I was

being so difficult

When he’d come home to that empty living room and saw the

ring discarded on the table, it felt like a hole had been punched

through his chest

Everyone said I was a pushover

Pushover, my ass, Reid thought, remembering the shattered

vases he’d kicked in frustration. She’s got a hell of a temper

All this over one little fight

When I arrived at the VIP booth, it was loud

Reid was sitting in the center, silent, while Lexi leaned

intimately against his shoulder

Before I could speak, Reid’s friend called out, Hey, Ella! Took

you long enough.”

Lexi acted like she’d just noticed me, quickly pulling away

from Reid

Ella! Please don’t misunderstand. Reid and I, we’re just”

I didn’t have the patience for her. I looked at Reid. My ID card

Give it to me.”

Reid looked me up and down

What do you need it for?”

I took a deep breath. It’s none of your business. We broke up

Give it back.”

The friend tried to play peacemaker

Come on, Ella, don’t be like that. You guys are finally in the

same room. Stop saying things you don’t mean.”

Reid’s eyes went cold. He pulled out his card case, took my

license, and tossed it onto the floor like a piece of trash. It slid deep under the sofa

He looked down at me, his voice icy. Oops. Threw it a bit too

far. Go get it.”

I bit back a retort and let out a dry laugh. Your aim is as

pathetic as ever, Reid.”

I knelt down to reach for the ID, but Lexi tripped. Her high heel

slammed down directly onto the back of my hand

Oh! I’m so sorry, Ella!she gasped, her voice dripping with fake concern. I didn’t see your hand there. Are you okay?”

My hand was throbbing and already starting to swell, but I grabbed my ID first, blew the dust off it, and stood up

I was so busy slapping Reid the other day that I forgot about

you, Lexi.”

Lexi shrank back behind Reid. Ella, you”

I swung my hand and caught Lexi across the face

Stop acting like a blind idiot,I spat. I’m disgusted just looking at you.”

Reid grabbed my wrist, his brow furrowing for a split second when he saw my swollen hand, but his voice remained harsh

What the hell is wrong with you? You came here just to pick a fight?”

I wrenched my arm out of his grip

I’m not that bored, Reid. If I had a choice, I’d never lay eyes

on either of you trashy people ever again.”

I turned to go, but Reid’s voice thundered through the booth

Ella Miller, apologize.”

If you don’t apologize to Lexi right now, don’t you ever come looking for me again.”

I looked back at him with a smirk that felt like a blade

As if I care.
