Marco’s wrist twitched slightly, and the muzzle pressed menacingly against Carmela’s temple. 

Carmela immediately let out a bloodcurdling scream 

and began pleading. 

“No. Giuseppe, save me.” 

“Give her to him. Give that bitch to him.” 

Carmela completely broke down; the fear of death 

overwhelmed her. 

She cried and screamed without a care for her dignity, 

desperate just to stay alive. 

Giuseppe’s voice was strained with suppressed anger. 

“Marco, I told you. Antonella is…” 

“I don’t want to hear your bullshit.” Marco rudely cut 

him off, jabbing the barrel forward again, causing 

Carmela to let out a sharp cry of pain. 

“I’ll ask you one last time–are you going to hand her 

over, or not?” 

The ruthlessness and resolve in his eyes left Giuseppe 

no doubt. 

If he dragged his feet any longer, Marco really would 

kill someone. 

“She’s in the basement of the auditorium.” 

Marco’s eyes were as cold as glaciers, and he remained 

on high alert. 

“Lead the way.” 

Giuseppe said nothing more and turned away with a 

stern expression. 

Marco, holding Carmela hostage, kept close behind and 

gave a nod to the medical staff behind him. 

The two medical staff members nodded and followed 

closely behind their armed guard. 

The dimly lit basement corridor was illuminated by the 

lights. 

Around the corner, a familiar figure was huddled 

behind the locked iron gate. 

Marco’s heart suddenly clenched, and his voice rose 

with urgency. 

“Antonella.” 

“Antonella.” 

There was no response. Not even the slightest tremor. 

That huddled figure was eerily still. 

A chill instantly ran down Marco’s spine. 

Without a moment’s hesitation, Marco violently shoved Carmela, who was in his arms, into Giuseppe, 

who was right behind her. Almost at the same moment, 

he raised his hand- 

Bang. Bang. 

Two shots broke the lock. 

Marco practically threw himself inside. 

He pulled the person crouched on the ground into his 

arms. 

“Antonella, Antonella, look at me.” 

He shook her shoulders violently, his voice rising from 

a low growl to a scream. 

“Antonella, wake up. Open your eyes.” 

“I’m Marco! I’m here!” 

The person in his arms was completely silent. 

Her head fell back limply, and in the dim light, her pale 

face took on a lifeless, ashen hue. 

Marco jerked his head up and shouted toward the door. 

“Doctor, save her.” 

“Hurry up.” 

The medical staff stepped forward, took the person from Marco’s arms, and began resuscitation efforts. 

Marco sprang to his feet, his eyes blazing with rage; he 

grabbed Giuseppe by the front of his shirt and slammed him hard against the wall. 

“Giuseppe.” 

“I’m telling you, if anything happens to Antonella today, I won’t let you get away with it.” 

Giuseppe didn’t struggle. 

He just glanced at me worriedly as I lay on the ground, looking a bit puzzled. 

“Marco, calm down.” 

“She’ll be fine. I just locked her in the basement for a 

little while. She’s probably just frail and fainted 

because she couldn’t take it. Nothing serious happened 

-don’t make a big deal out of this.” 

Marco was so furious he wanted to kill him right then 

and there. He fired several shots at the ceiling. 

The hand gripping Giuseppe’s collar trembled. 

“Did you know that Antonella has a rare heart 

condition?” 

“And it’s in the late stages. Without medical staff 

nearby, she could die at any moment.” 

Marco’s roar echoed through the basement, making 

the walls seem to buzz. 

Giuseppe froze suddenly; all expression vanished from his face, leaving only a look of stunned disbelief. 

He stared intently into Marco’s eyes, trying to detect 

even the slightest sign of deception. 

No… it couldn’t be… 

Antonella was just a little frail… 

Antonella might have just fainted. How could… 

But the genuine anguish and despair in Marco’s eyes. 

left him no choice but to believe. 

Just then, the medical staff, who had been kneeling on 

the ground performing CPR with all their might, 

suddenly stopped. 

He leaned down again, felt for the carotid artery, and 

checked her pupils. 

Finally, he managed to speak up. 

“Mr. Ferraro…” 

“There’s no point in trying to save Antonella 

anymore.”
