My Husband’s Mistress Is My Sister Chapter 03

My Husband’s Mistress Is My Sister Chapter 03

There’d been a downpour not long before.

I landed right in a puddle of mud. The ground was slick, and the more I tried to get up, the more I kept slipping.

Ethan stayed in the car, watching, his face blank. “See that, Grace?”

When I looked at him, he let out a dry laugh. “See? If I don’t help you, you can’t even stand up on your own. So tell me, where exactly are you gonna go if we get divorced?”

He didn’t wait for me to answer.

The door slammed shut, and the car sped off, splattering mud all over my face.

As everything went dark, memories of Ethan flashed through my mind like a montage.

After I left Julian, the betrayal had wrecked me. I fell into a severe depression.

I couldn’t stop hurting myself. Every time I cut, Ethan would find out and cut himself twice.

When I couldn’t sleep, he tore the roof off our place and replaced it with a skylight so we could lie there counting stars all night.

When I couldn’t eat, he starved right along with me.

A year of that, and I finally started to get better. Started trusting him.

The day he asked me to be his, he got down on one knee and promised he’d never betray me.

I believed him.

Now, barely a year later, that promise was already broken.

I wiped the mud from my eyes and forced myself up, using the ground to steady me.

People walking by laughed at how clumsy I looked.

I was humiliated and scared, waving frantically for a cab.

Finally, one driver agreed to take me, even with me covered in mud. But only if I paid upfront and threw in an extra two hundred.

I said yes right away.

When I went to pay, though, it turned out my card had just been frozen. Zero balance.

The driver kicked me out, and right then, the skies opened up again.

The rain felt like needles against my skin.

I don’t know how long I walked, but eventually I made it back to the house Ethan and I shared.

I pushed the door open, and my mind went blank.

High heels tangled with dress shoes. Lace underwear tossed over a black suit jacket.

By the window, Ethan had Vanessa pressed against him, kissing her.

For a second, I was right back in that room five years ago.

A strangled sound tore out of me, my hands and legs shaking uncontrollably.

The noise broke them apart.

Ethan frowned, irritated. “What’s with the drama? It’s not like you haven’t seen this before.”

Vanessa laughed, sharp and mocking. “Long time no see, Grace. Forget what I said on the phone, Ethan’s way better than your ex.”

Ethan smirked. “Now that’s what I like to hear.”

He smiled and started walking toward me.

The closer he got, the more I shook.

When he reached out to touch me, I doubled over and threw up.

I saw him go stiff for just a second.

Then his voice came out low and cold. “You really think I’m that disgusting, Grace?”
