My Husband’s Heir Cost Him His Own Daughter Chapter 38

“If it weren’t for that child, I wouldn’t be in this mess!”

Savannah’s laugh was cold.

“Luckily, Carter never suspected the baby wasn’t his. Otherwise—”

“Savannah, what did you just say?”

Before she could finish, the door to the room was kicked open with a deafening crash.

Savannah, not expecting Carter to arrive so soon, went completely white.

Her friends, seeing the murderous expression on his face, quickly made their excuses and fled.

The temperature in the room plummeted.

Savannah swallowed hard, still trying to use her old tricks to manage him.

“Carter, you came back. You do care about me, don’t you? You couldn’t bear to let me die.”

“Is it true?”

Carter stared at the woman in the hospital bed, the fire in his eyes hot enough to burn.

He walked toward her, his voice a low, dangerous rumble.

“What did you just say? You said the child isn’t mine. The child you gave birth to… isn’t mine?”

“No, no! You misheard!” Savannah shook her head wildly. “You’re the only man I’ve been with. How could the child not be yours?”

She opened her mouth to explain further, but under Carter’s murderous glare, the words died in her throat.

“Savannah,” Carter said, standing over her bed, his voice raw. “How many other lies have you told me?”

He had never felt so stupid.

For this woman, this creature of lies, he had driven Amelia away.

He had signed away his own daughter.

He had done so many things that could never be undone.

And only now, he was learning that the “heir” he had sacrificed everything for might not even be his.
