My Husband’s Bedmate Hurt My Daughter Chapter 06

My Husband’s Bedmate Hurt My Daughter Chapter 06

“Not quite yet,” Bianca said, snatching the paperwork away and smiling down at me.

“Matteo already called an emergency shareholder meeting. You two can leave once it wraps up.”

I turned to Matteo.

“Are you keeping us trapped here against our will?”

Bianca answered for him immediately.

“Nothing like that. We just need you two to stay out of sight for a few days.”

She glanced over at Lucia.

“Mrs. Voss, don’t you have a basement under this house? It’ll just be a temporary stay for you and your daughter.”

My blood ran cold. Matteo knew perfectly well Elodie was terrified of the dark.

I lowered my voice in a desperate plea.

“Matteo. Elodie is deathly afraid of basements. I’ll stay inside the house quietly, I promise I won’t step foot outside. Just don’t lock her down there.”

A flicker of indecision crossed Matteo’s face, only for Bianca to cut in right away.

“Don’t go soft on her, Matteo. This is Serena DeLuca we’re dealing with. If she gets outside, one single word from her could destroy all of us.”

She stroked her stomach gently.

“I’m willing to stand by your side through any consequences, but what about our baby? You can’t risk your unborn son winding up tangled in prison sentences before he even gets a chance to be born.”

All hesitation vanished from Matteo’s expression completely.

My heart died entirely inside my chest.

Lucia led Elodie back out of the bedroom.

The second Elodie spotted me, she sprinted straight into my embrace.

“Don’t be scared, Mommy. I’m not scared of the basement anymore. I’ll protect you.”

I held her tight, hot tears spilling down my cheeks.

“Baby, Mommy will never let anyone hurt you ever again.”

Bianca let out a sharp sneer.

“Are you done with this mother-daughter drama? Are you going down voluntarily, or do I need to drag you both?”

I lifted my gaze to Matteo.

“Do you really intend to lock us in that basement?”

Matteo stayed silent.

Growing impatient, Bianca snapped, “If she won’t go willingly, lock the little girl down there first. That’ll make Ms. DeLuca cooperate fast enough.”

She reached out to grab Elodie, and I clamped my arms around my daughter protectively.

“Don’t touch her.”

Bianca’s eyes turned vicious. She snatched a fruit knife off the coffee table and sliced it hard across the back of my hand.

I gasped sharply from the searing pain.

Taking advantage of my shock, she pried my fingers apart one by one.

Elodie sobbed loudly, “Stop hurting my Mommy! I’ll go! I’ll go down to the basement!”

Bianca gave her a brutal yank.

Elodie stumbled and crashed to the floor, her chin slamming against the edge of the coffee table, instantly blooming bright red.

I lunged forward and pulled her safely back into my arms.

Right then, rapid footsteps thundered up to the front door.

I lifted my head, my voice rough and hoarse.

“Matteo. Bianca. You two are finished. I may not be heading down to that basement—but you two are going to spend a very long time behind bars.”

Bianca blinked in confusion.

“What are you talking about?”

The next second, someone banged violently against the front door.

Matteo’s face drained of all color.

“Serena, you schemed against me?”

He charged straight for me, but before he could lay a hand on me, the front door crashed open. Police officers flooded inside.

“Freeze!”

Matteo was tackled to the ground and restrained. Officers moved in to detain Bianca as well.

Lucia let out a shrill scream.

“It’s all a misunderstanding! This is just a marital dispute between husband and wife! They’re family!”

Matteo hurried to speak to the officers too.

“Officers, this is a domestic dispute. I’m just discussing divorce terms with my wife.”

Still holding Elodie securely, I slowly rose to my feet.

“This is not a domestic dispute. They coerced me into signing a power-of-attorney document, embezzled assets from DeLuca Group, and planned to illegally detain my daughter and me. I have all the evidence to prove it.”

Lucia panicked, her face turning ashen. She quickly turned toward Elodie.

“Elodie, tell these officers you don’t want your Daddy taken away, okay?”

Elodie lifted her tear-streaked face from my chest, her small jaw set firm with resolve.

“Daddy and Bianca are being mean to Mom. He even told Bianca to be mean to me. I don’t want a Daddy like him. I’m gonna protect Mom.”

I was stunned.

I hadn’t shed a tear when Matteo kicked me to the floor.

I hadn’t broken down when they threatened my child to force my signature.

But hearing Elodie’s brave declaration shattered my composure entirely.

I squeezed her tightly against my chest, hot tears dripping steadily onto her hair.

In that moment, I realized something undeniable: as long as she was safe in my arms, I had never truly lost anything at all.
