My Husband’s Bedmate Hurt My Daughter Chapter 07

At the police station, Matteo was still stubbornly clinging to his lies.

“This is a domestic dispute. Serena and I are husband and wife. She signed that power of attorney of her own free will.”

Bianca sat nearby, her eyes red and puffy, putting on a perfect victim act.

“Officers, I’m just an assistant. I had no idea what was going on between them. I never meant to hurt Elodie.”

I stared at them and laughed.

Matteo frowned. “What are you laughing at?”

I pulled out my phone and played the recording. Every word from that living room came through loud and clear: Bianca threatening me, Matteo forcing me to sign, their plan to lock us in the basement, and that line—”If she gets outside, one word from her could ruin all of us.”

When the recording ended, the room fell silent. Matteo’s face went pale.

“You… you recorded us?”

I looked at him coldly. “Did you really think I would walk into the Voss household with nothing up my sleeve? I loved you once, Matteo. But I was never stupid.”

He shot to his feet, but officers pushed him back down.

“Serena, I’m sorry. I really am. It was all Bianca. She told me she was carrying my son. You know how much I wanted an heir. I let my greed get the better of me. But you’re still the one I truly love.”

I almost laughed.

“How could she be carrying your child if you hadn’t already stopped loving me?”

Matteo froze.

I spoke slowly, each word deliberate.

“We’re done. It ended the moment you watched Bianca take Elodie away and did nothing. It ended when you wouldn’t even look at your daughter on that video call. It ended the day you hit me for your secretary. I’ve been completely over you for a long time.”

Matteo’s eyes turned red.

“Serena, for Elodie’s sake, give me one more chance. I’ll run the company right. I’ll be a good father.”

I stood up.

“You don’t deserve to be her father anymore. I put you in that chairman’s seat because I loved you. Now that I don’t, I can take it all away just as easily.”

I didn’t look back. I picked up Elodie and walked out.

The next day, the third-party management team took over DeLuca Group.

All accounts were frozen, all personnel appointments suspended, and every contract Matteo and Bianca had touched was reviewed.

It didn’t take long. Over the years, Matteo had siphoned millions through shell companies.

They posed as legitimate business partners while acting as his personal channels to siphon stolen corporate assets.

That was why they’d rushed to her defense. Their concern was never business cooperation—it was fear of my financial audit.

My attorney placed the report in front of me.

“The evidence is airtight. The power of attorney is void. We can pursue both criminal and civil charges.”

I glanced at the papers, then stroked Elodie’s hair. She sat beside me, drawing quietly. This time, there was no father in her picture—just Mommy and her, and a house surrounded by flowers.

I turned to my lawyer.

“Sue them. Matteo. Bianca. Everyone who helped them steal from this company. Don’t leave anyone out.”

It took me a full month to purge DeLuca Group of all corruption.

I found every person Matteo had planted, fired those who’d helped him, and turned the rest over to the police.

The same people who’d condemned me in that conference room now faced me in court, sobbing.

“Ms. DeLuca, we’re sorry. Matteo made us do it. We were only doing our paid jobs to get by. Please show us mercy just this once.”

I didn’t bother gracing them with a single glance. Not one of them had spoken up for Elodie when they’d seen the slap mark on her face. Their tears meant nothing now.

When they saw I wouldn’t relent, they immediately began throwing each other under the bus.

In the end, every finger pointed back at Matteo and Bianca.

And those two turned on each other too. Matteo’s gaze was filled with unbridled loathing for Bianca.

“If it weren’t for you, I’d still be running DeLuca Group. I had a wife, a daughter, everything. You ruined me.”

Bianca laughed like she’d lost her mind.

“Don’t act like you’re the victim here. Who told me you and Serena were only married in name? Who said you’d turn DeLuca Group into Voss Group? Who promised to marry me once I gave you a son? You lied to me from the start.”

Matteo lunged at her. “Shut up!”

They started fighting right there in the courtroom.

I watched from the gallery, feeling nothing but disgust. This was the man I’d once loved. The second his benefits were stripped away, he lost every last shred of his dignity.

The verdict came quickly. Matteo was sentenced to twenty years for commercial embezzlement, illegal asset diversion, contractual duress, and attempted false imprisonment.

Bianca got ten years as his accomplice.

Everyone else involved received sentences based on their roles. Every stolen dollar was recovered.

As they led Matteo away, he kept shouting my name.

“Serena! I’m sorry! You can’t do this to me!”

I didn’t turn around. Some apologies are never genuine repentance. They only come when people finally have to pay for their mistakes.

Bianca shot Matteo one last hateful look as they took her out.

They’d thought a son would be their stepping stone to climb over Elodie and me for power.

They forgot one thing: DeLuca Group already had an heir. My daughter.

After the trial, I walked out of the courthouse alone.

The sun was warm on my face. A car waited at the curb. The door swung open, and Elodie ran toward me.

“Mommy!”

I knelt down and caught her. She threw her arms around my neck, smiling.

“Can we go home now?”

I brushed her hair back. “Yes. We’re going home.”

She looked up at me. “A home without Daddy?”

I held her close and spoke softly. “Anywhere Mommy is, that’s your home.”

Elodie hugged me tighter.

I looked up at the DeLuca Group building in the distance.

From now on, there was no place for Matteo Voss inside it. And no one would ever hurt my daughter again.

I’d spent years holding onto the idea of a complete family.

But I finally understood: a whole family never depends on an unworthy man to hold it together. It’s just me and Elodie. We are enough to be our own home.
