My Husband’s Bedmate Hurt My Daughter Chapter 05

My Husband’s Bedmate Hurt My Daughter Chapter 05

Elodie threw herself straight into my arms.

Her tiny hands were freezing and shaking nonstop.

I held her tight and fixed my gaze on Matteo.

“She’s your own flesh and blood.”

“How could you treat her like this?”

Matteo leaned back against the sofa, not a flicker of remorse on his face.

“She loves drawing, right? I just made her finish her work. Is that really such a crime?”

Rage turned every inch of me cold.

Just then, a doorway upstairs creaked open, and Matteo’s mother, Lucia Voss, descended the stairs.

Wrapped in a cashmere shawl, her face was dark with disapproval.

“Serena, Matteo already told me everything. You caused a humiliating scene at the firm today.”

I stared at her.

Before coming here, I’d even worried about her fragile health, wondering how I could explain what had happened without upsetting her.

I never imagined her first words would be to blame me.

“An appalling scene?”

I glanced down at Elodie’s bruised face.

“Your granddaughter was struck and locked in a storage closet for three hours. And you think I’m the one behaving badly?”

Lucia frowned sharply.

“Kids act out sometimes, and disciplining them is normal. Besides, Bianca was acting in Matteo’s best interests, and the company’s too. As his wife, you had no right to put him on the spot in front of clients.”

A bitter, burning laugh bubbled out of me, stinging my eyes.

Matteo wasn’t the only fool here—the whole Voss clan is just like him.

They live off the DeLuca fortune and reside in our family home, yet they act like they own the place.

Lucia stepped toward me, softening her tone in a patronizing attempt to mediate.

“Enough of this. Marital conflicts can always be worked out. Apologize to Matteo, then apologize to Bianca, and we can put this whole mess behind us.”

I lifted my chin to meet her eyes.

“My daughter got hurt. And I’m supposed to say sorry?”

Lucia’s expression hardened instantly.

“Don’t be so unappreciative. You’re still Matteo’s wife right now. If you get a divorce, how will you support yourself and your daughter?”

I glanced over at Matteo.

He said nothing, silently agreeing with his mother’s threat.

I gently rubbed slow circles on Elodie’s back to calm her.

“Don’t be so unappreciative. You’re still Matteo’s wife right now. If you get a divorce, how will you support yourself and your daughter?”

Matteo’s composure finally shattered.

He surged to his feet and clamped a brutal grip around my wrist.

“Serena, are you really going to burn all bridges with me?”

I wrenched my arm free from his hold.

“You crossed my hard line first. Your unforgivable mistake was letting your lover lay a finger on my little girl.”

At that exact moment, the kitchen door swung open.

Bianca stepped out carrying a glass of water, moving through the space as if it were her own home.

She smiled when she spotted me.

“Ms. DeLuca, you don’t seriously think Matteo still cares all that much about your DeLuca Group, do you?”

I locked eyes with her as she sauntered over to slip her arm through Matteo’s.

“Your company has long been bled dry. The ledgers are full of debt, with tens of millions in outstanding gaps.”

My gaze dragged slowly back to Matteo.

“You’ve been siphoning assets out of the group?”

Matteo offered no denial, only stared back at me coldly.

“You left me no choice. If you’d stayed home and played the obedient wife, I never would have resorted to this. But you just couldn’t stop picking fights.”

I stared at him, overcome with revulsion.

“Do you truly believe sitting in that chair makes you the chairman of DeLuca Group? I can trace every contract you’ve signed, every single dollar you’ve moved through the books.”

Matteo’s gaze turned menacing.

In one sharp motion, he lunged forward and kicked me hard in the torso.

I lost my balance and crashed heavily to the floor.

Elodie screamed and threw herself in front of me.

“Daddy, don’t hurt Mommy!”

Matteo roughly shoved her aside.

“Elodie!”

I scrambled forward and pulled my daughter securely into my arms.

She’d fallen onto the carpet, her face pale with pain, yet she still sobbed and positioned herself to shield me.

“Daddy hurt Mommy. I don’t want Daddy anymore.”

A flicker of hesitation crossed Matteo’s face—until Bianca doubled over suddenly, one hand pressed to her stomach.

“Matteo, she ran into me just now. I’m carrying your son inside me.”

Lucia’s demeanor flipped instantly.

She grabbed Elodie by the arm.

“How can you be so reckless, child? That’s your little brother you nearly harmed.”

Elodie twisted away, crying frantically.

“I don’t want a brother! I want Mommy!”

Ignoring her protests, Lucia began dragging Elodie toward a bedroom.

I tried to bolt after them, but Matteo tossed a legal document down at my feet to block my path.

“Sign it.”

I glanced down. It was a power-of-attorney agreement granting Matteo Voss full operational control of DeLuca Group, all financial signing authority, and all shareholder voting rights.

The official corporate seal was already stamped at the bottom—a seal I kept locked inside my personal safe.

I looked up at him in shock.

“You stole my company seal.”

Matteo showed no trace of guilt whatsoever.

“We’re still married, aren’t we? don’t make it sound so ugly.”

I let out a scathing cold laugh.

“You’re delusional. I’d rather die than sign this.”

Bianca smirked softly.

“Ms. DeLuca, Elodie bit me earlier. If you refuse to sign, I’ll go in there and teach her some proper manners myself.”

My head snapped up in rage.

“You wouldn’t dare.”

Bianca lifted an eyebrow challengingly.

“Try me.”

She turned to walk toward the bedroom door, and I pinned Matteo with a furious stare.

“What kind of man threatens his own wife using their daughter as leverage?”

Matteo’s voice remained flat and unyielding.

“Sign this. If you sign it, I’ll put a house in your name and give you monthly alimony once we split. If you refuse, you’ll be stuck holding all the company debt with Elodie on your hands.”

Bianca’s grin widened with triumph.

“Matteo’s being incredibly generous, Ms. DeLuca. Don’t refuse a kindness.”

I stared toward the closed bedroom door, Elodie’s muffled cries drifting out from inside.

I squeezed my eyes shut, and when I opened them again, my tone was ice-cold and resolute.

“Fine. I’ll sign it.”

I picked up the pen and scrawled my full legal signature—Serena DeLuca—across the document.

Matteo and Bianca exchanged a secret, elated glance, barely able to hide their glee.

I set the pen down.

“Now can I take Elodie and leave?”
