My Husband Wished for My Love, Then Got Bored in Year Seven Chapter 04

I started to relax, only for my heart to lurch back into my throat.

“Why are you turning here? I said the airport! We only have ten minutes left-we’re going to miss it!”

The driver gritted his teeth and said nothing, pressing harder on the accelerator.

The car was heading straight for the mansion Thomas and I shared.

Dread turned my blood to ice. I lunged forward, trying to grab the steering wheel.

“Stop the car!”

He shoved me back roughly, staring at me with exasperation.

“Your husband offered over hundred thousands to every cab company in the city just to track you down. He’s terrified you’ll hurt yourself again. Why keep fighting him?”

“He’s worried sick about you. What more do you want?”

I tried desperately to explain. “I’m not trying to kill myself. Don’t listen to him. Take me to the airport, and I’ll pay you whatever you ask.”

The taxi pulled into the gated community where our mansion sat.

The driver sighed. “Quit this nonsense and go home.”

Outside the front gates, Thomas, Angela, and a few others stood with suitcases, chatting and laughing.

“It’s a ten-hour flight. Are you going to be okay, Angela?”

Angela covered her mouth and smiled, her eyes crinkling.

“You packed everything for me-the neck pillow, the travel cushion. You made sure I wouldn’t be

uncomfortable.”

Mason, one of Thomas’s closest friends, whistled teasingly. “Thomas really spoils you, Angela.”

“Knock it off, Mason”

Thomas didn’t sound truly annoyed. It was obvious they joked like this all the time.

The taxi rolled to a stop right in front of them My eyes burned as I stared out the window

I spotted a sports car nearby with its passenger door open I bolted out of the taxi and ran toward it

I had to reach the airport today, no matter what

Angela suddenly shrieked, clutching her head and dropping to the ground, trembling “Stay away from me!

Please!”

“Crazy woman!”

Mason thought I was about to attack Angela. He tackled me hard and slammed me onto the pavement.

He grabbed a fistful of my hair and yanked my head back.

“Thomas, you and Angela go enjoy your trip. I’ll keep an eye on her.”

“I brought my whole boxing crew. The place is surrounded. She’s not going anywhere.”

“Thomas…” Pain blurred my vision.

My broken arm split open again, and the metallic scent of blood hung thick in the air.

Thomas glanced over at me and opened his mouth as if he might say something, but Angela tugged at his

sleeve.

“We’re going to miss our flight.”

“Behave yourself. We’ll sort all of this out once I get back.”

He turned away and climbed into the car with Angela.

Mason dragged me back to the mansion and chained my wrists and ankles to a chair in the bedroom.

“Thomas and Angela never crossed any lines. I don’t get why you’re always so suspicious.”

“Besides, if you hadn’t pushed your way in, she would have ended up with him years ago. You never would

have stood a chance.”

I lifted my pale face and let out a bitter laugh. “He made a wish at the One Wish Willow to make me love him.

If it weren’t for that-”

Mason cut me off with a sneer. “A wish from some magic tree? This isn’t a fairy tale.”

“You played hard-to-get, turned him down a hundred times before you finally said yes. If you didn’t love him, why agree to marry him? You stole what was hers.”

The metal chains had already rubbed my wrists raw and bloody, but I stopped struggling.

I had spotted my phone lying on the floor. Joseph had texted me back: [I’m coming to get you.]

“Thomas and Angela boarded the plane safely.” Mason waved his phone in front of my face.

“Your tantrums won’t change a thing. I’m not as nice as Thomas. I won’t drive you to a hospital if you hurt

yourself.”

When I stayed silent, he glanced over and grinned. “If you’d acted this calm from the start, Thomas wouldn’t hate you so much.”

I closed my eyes and waited for Joseph to track my location and come rescue me.

50.00%

I lost track of time until heavy footsteps echoed outside.

I thought Joseph had arrived. I opened my eyes, only to see Mason sprint past in sheer panic.

Flames erupted through the mansion. Thick black smoke billowed into the bedroom.

I choked, barely able to draw breath.

“Mason…”

I twisted and strained against my chains, screaming his name, begging him to come back and save me. No

one answered.

A burning wooden beam crashed down. The intense heat blurred my vision, and I slipped into despair.

“Joseph…”

A deafening roar. The entire building collapsed.

Miles above, Thomas’s phone lit up with an emergency alert.
