Lena’s older brother Danny Hale-a career gambler who lived in casinos-had found out about his

The blade sliced through Danny’s neck. Hot blood sprayed across Lena’s pale face. She let out a terrible scream. Like a demon crawling out of hell, Aiden stabbed again and again into her swollen

belly.

“It’s all your fault! If it weren’t for you, I’d still be a Cole heir. I’d still be married into the Moores!

“Evelyn and I could’ve had a perfect life! You’re the one who led me on, you shameless hussy!”

The cramped basement turned into a blood-soaked nightmare.

After killing both siblings, Aiden stumbled outside and climbed to the roof of an unfinished building. Police cars raced to the scene, sirens blaring, but he didn’t seem to notice.

He stood at the edge of the roof, dozens of feet up, facing the direction of the Moore estate as the wind howled around him. His eyes were bloodshot.

“Evelyn, I’m sorry!”

“This is all my fault. I’ll pay you back with my life.”

“Wait for me. I’ll make things right with you in the next life, I promise!”

With one last desperate scream, he spread his arms and fell like a broken bird. A dull thud echoed from below. He died on impact, his body shattered and bloody.

When the assistant finished his report, the office fell completely silent.

I slowly picked up my cold coffee and took a small sip. Images flashed through my mind —him dragging me off a roof in his past life, forcing me to end my pregnancy in this one. The coffee tasted bitter, almost sour.

A man like that, and he had the nerve to talk about repaying me? It was laughable. His promises of making amends and waiting for another life were absolutely ridiculous.

I set the cup down hard on the desk, my lips curling into a look of pure contempt.

“He’s just trash who got exactly what he deserved. He doesn’t deserve a second life.”

I turned to look at the clear sky outside the window. There was no emotion left in my heart.

“Sort out the Cole family’s mess. I don’t want anything to do with it.”
