My Husband Faked His Death Chapter 19

Jake’s face twisted in pain. He looked at me, his lips trembling. “She begged you? So you didn’t come because you were worried about me? You came because some cheap woman begged you?”
Rage flared inside me. I slapped him again. “You’re scum. Lily may be flawed, but she genuinely loves you. How can you trash her like that?” I turned to Lily. “You two work out your own problems. Don’t ever show up in front of me again. Seeing you both just disgusts me.”
Then I took Ryan’s hand and went back to the hotel.
On the way, Ryan lectured me harshly about stepping in front of him, ending only when I admitted I was wrong.
Our relationship grew fast. Ryan seemed to be rushing.
On our one‑year anniversary, he proposed, then immediately threw himself into wedding preparations.
He did everything himself. I had no idea—until it was time to try on dresses, and I found out I was getting married.
At the wedding, Ryan invited Jake and Lily.
That’s when I learned what happened after I left them on the mountain.
Lily’s love turned to hate. During their confrontation, she pushed Jake off a cliff.
This time, Jake really broke several bones—just like in his lie—and would need a wheelchair for life.
Lily took care of him. But she took care of him so badly that he grew thinner and more haggard every day.
They tormented each other for the rest of their lives.
My gaze drifted to Jake’s legs.
Ryan grabbed my face firmly and kissed me. “What are you staring at? I’m getting jealous.”
I laughed, my eyes curving, and kissed him back. “Don’t be jealous. My eyes and heart are all yours.”
