My Husband Backed His Assistant-Until He Learned She Had Killed His Mother Chapter 11

After hanging up, Ethan looked at me coldly, as though he had already decided I was the one in the

wrong.

“When my mother gets here, let’s see what else you have to say.”

Vanessa moved closer to him.

“Mr. Walker, don’t worry. Margaret must be fine. Maybe she’s stuck in traffic, or her phone just ran

out of battery.”

Emily nodded.

“Exactly. Maybe she’s somewhere else preparing a surprise for us.’

“Today means so much to her. There’s no way she wouldn’t come.”

“Don’t listen to someone who’s deliberately trying to scare you.!!

Ethan slowly nodded.

“I know. I never believed anything could have happened to my mother, and I definitely don’t believe someone as kind as Vanessa would ever hurt her.”

Then he looked at me.

“Olivia, you’ve disappointed me beyond words. After tonight, we’re getting divorced. I can’t accept a wife who keeps dragging my mother’s life into her games!”

Emily was the first to break into a smile.

“Ethan, you should’ve divorced her a long time ago!”

“Olivia doesn’t deserve you anymore. Vanessa is the one who’s actually right for you!”

“When Mom gets here, I’ll have her accept Vanessa as part of our family right here in front of \ everyone!”

Vanessa lowered her head, trying to hide her smile, but she couldn’t stop herself from grinning.

The people around us looked at me, clearly delighted to see me humiliated.

Only my mother stared at Ethan in disbelief.

“Ethan, how can you treat Olivia like this?”

“You’ve been together for so many years. Don’t you know what kind of person she is?”

“Have you forgotten what you promised me back then?”

“When you were broke and struggling, who stayed by your side?”

“Who gave you every penny of her savings so you could start your business?”

Ethan’s face darkened as he listened to my mother.

“Now that you have money and status, you’re going to throw away the wife who stayed with you when you had nothing?”

“Don’t you see how wrong that is?”

Having his past brought up in front of everyone clearly embarrassed Ethan, and that

embarrassment quickly turned into anger.

“Linda, this is between Olivia and me. Stay out of it!”

“I remember that you helped me back then. And I’ve given you plenty of money over the years!”

“Our marriage can’t live on the past forever.”

“Olivia is jealous, suspicious, and vicious now!”

“She was just standing here cursing my mother and saying she was dead!”

“I can’t accept a wife that cruel.”

My mother’s face turned white with anger. She clutched her chest, unable to speak for a moment. I caught her and gently patted her back.

Only after her breathing had steadied did I look up at Ethan.

“Fine. We’ll get divorced. But we don’t need to wait until tonight is over. Sign the papers now.”
