My Family Heard My Murderous Thoughts, So the Fake Heiress Called 911 Chapter 04

Nolan rushed over and grabbed Hailey’s arm, yanking her back from the edge of the stairs.

Hailey staggered from the pull. She turned, saw it was Nolan, and a flash of panic crossed her face.

“Nolan…”

He looked at her as if he were seeing her for the first time, deeply disappointed and frustrated. “She was at least ten feet away. Did the air push you?”

Hailey’s face went white. Her mouth opened, then closed.

Nolan’s gaze was cold and scrutinizing, as if he were watching her put on an act.

[Tried to frame me and got exposed instead. Someone this stupid wouldn’t survive the first round out there.]

[If I were going to do something, I definitely wouldn’t pick a public area with witnesses.]

[I’d find a way to make her walk into the trap herself. Late at night. Somewhere without cameras. Ask her to meet me for a talk, wait until she stepped into the blind spot, then act. Maybe even make it look like a disappearance.]

[That’s much safer than staging an accident.]

Nolan’s hand trembled slightly, but he didn’t dare look at me. He kept his eyes on Hailey, then let go of her arm.

“You’ve really disappointed me.”

That single sentence left Hailey frozen in place.

Nolan walked past her without looking back.

Before dinner, Nolan called Hailey into the study.

The door closed.

I didn’t know what they talked about, but when it opened again, Hailey looked awful and yet strangely excited.

As she passed me, I saw her pull out her phone and dial 911.

Now I was genuinely curious.

What had they talked about?

Meanwhile.

In the living room, Gregory and Nolan were talking in low voices.

“I checked the wanted-person database,” Nolan said. “The serial killers currently at large are all men.”

“Doesn’t match her.” Gregory frowned.

“We can’t accuse her of a crime without evidence,” Nolan added. “If this turns into a false police report and gets out, it’ll hurt Whitmore Holdings’ reputation.”

Catherine asked anxiously, “Then what? We just keep this up?”

Nolan was quiet for a moment. “Something feels off.”

Gregory frowned. “What do you mean?”

Nolan rubbed his temples. “I don’t know. But I think… we’re missing something.”

Just then, the doorbell rang.

Hailey practically ran down from the second floor to answer it. She pulled open the door.

Two uniformed officers stood outside. One was older, in his mid-forties, with a tired expression. The other was younger, with one hand resting on his duty belt and an alert look in his eyes.

“Who called it in?” the older officer asked.

Hailey’s voice rose, excitement barely contained.

“Sergeant, it was me. I suspect she’s a serial killer.”
