My Ex Thought I Still Loved Him, I Was Already Married Rich Chapter 16

“What are you looking at?”

Adrian’s clear voice suddenly came from behind me.

I came back to myself and reached out to pull the curtains shut.

“Nothing.”

“Just someone who doesn’t matter.”

The tiny red ember outside the window was instantly cut off by the heavy curtains.

It felt as if it had been shut out of my life completely too.

Adrian wrapped his arms around me from behind and rested his chin on my shoulder.

“He really doesn’t matter?”

I turned around, cupped his face, and kissed him hard.

“Yes. To me, you matter most.”

The moment I said those words, my heart felt lighter than it ever had before.

It was as if I had finally said goodbye to the past for good.

A smile instantly rose in Adrian’s eyes.

The next second, he threw me back onto the bed.

“Baby, why are you so good at coaxing me tonight? Let me make you feel good too.”

I vaguely sensed danger.

“Adrian, you…”

Before I could finish, he lowered his head and sealed my lips with his.

By the time it ended again, the sky outside was nearly bright.

I was so exhausted that I could barely open my eyes.

Adrian, however, was still full of energy.

He held me and said happily, “Nora, let’s have another wedding.”

I opened my eyes in a daze.

“Why?”

Adrian gently played with my fingers, and his voice softened.

“When we got married last time, neither of us was marrying for love.”

That was true.

Back then, he needed a suitable Mrs. Blackwood.

And I needed money and status.

We had only been using each other.

There had been no romantic proposal.

Even the rings had been bought by his secretary.

The wedding had been nothing more than a procedure, and we had both been actors playing our parts.

But now, everything was different.

Adrian lowered his head and kissed my forehead.

“Now we love each other. Of course we should have a real wedding.”

“And I want all those relatives and old friends of yours back in New York to know how happy you are now.”

I froze for a moment.

The truth was, I did not care what those so-called relatives and friends thought.

But in that instant, I thought of my mother.

I thought of my father.

I thought of Grandma.

I wanted them to know that I had Adrian now, and that I was happy.

I gently hugged Adrian and whispered, “Okay.”

Adrian lowered his head as if he wanted to kiss me again, and I quickly pushed him away.

“Sleep.”

He gave a low laugh.

“Fine. We’ll continue tomorrow.”

The wedding preparations moved quickly.

Adrian handled everything himself.

He personally reviewed every detail, from the venue to the jewelry to the gowns.

But as the wedding drew closer, he became extremely busy.

Blackwood Capital had only just entered the U.S. market, and there were many matters he had to handle himself.

So on the day I went to try on wedding dresses, I went alone.

The sales associate led me into a private bridal suite.

“Ms. Hale, Mr. Blackwood personally selected three wedding gowns for you. Please see which one you like best.”

I nodded and was just about to take a closer look at the three gowns.

Then a familiar voice came from behind me.

“Nora?”

I turned around.

Julian was standing not far away, gazing deeply at me.

Before I could speak, a young woman in a white wedding dress stepped out.

Holding up her skirt, her cheeks flushed, she asked Julian, “Do I look good in this?”
