My Ex Thought I Still Loved Him, I Was Already Married Rich Chapter 15

My Ex Thought I Still Loved Him, I Was Already Married Rich Chapter 15

I lowered my eyes, but my thoughts slipped uncontrollably back to five years ago.

At that time, I had just arrived in the U.K.

The inheritance my parents had left me had long been drained by the endless lawsuit.

I was almost penniless.

To survive, I worked desperately.

Later, by sheer chance, I got an internship at a Blackwood-owned company.

During one executive meeting, I was assigned to go in and serve coffee.

But the moment Mr. Blackwood Sr. saw me, his eyes turned red.

He said I looked very much like his granddaughter, who had died young.

After that, Mr. Blackwood Sr. took special care of me.

He made me his assistant. My job was to keep him company, chat with him, and listen to him talk about his granddaughter when she was little.

At the time, Adrian was at a critical stage in the fight to become the Blackwood family’s successor.

He needed a “suitable Mrs. Blackwood,” someone who could please Mr. Blackwood Sr. and was obedient enough.

So he came to me.

“Marry me.”

“Be Mrs. Blackwood for five years.”

“In exchange, I’ll help you build a life in the U.K.”

“When the contract ends, I’ll also give you enough money to live comfortably for the rest of your life.”

Back then, I needed money too badly.

I needed money to survive.

And I needed even more money to take revenge on the Carlisle family.

So I agreed.

At first, we really were nothing more than partners in a deal.

I carefully guarded every boundary and waited for the five years to pass so I could take the money and leave.

But when two people spend every day together, chemistry is not something they can control.

Slowly, many things changed.

When I got sick, he would personally drive me to the hospital at two in the morning.

When I had nightmares and cried out for my parents, he would hold me all night and refuse to let go.

When I casually mentioned that I liked the wine in my glass, he bought the entire winery that made it for me.

In the second year of our marriage, he threw that contract into the fireplace.

The flames swallowed the pages little by little.

He held me and said in a low voice, “Nora, our marriage isn’t just pretend anymore, is it? Can I call you my wife now?”

Thinking of that memory, I could not help smiling.

I walked over and took Adrian’s hand.

He instinctively squeezed mine back.

His palm was warm, just as it had always been.

I looked at Julian and smiled faintly.

“Mr. Shaw really is well-informed.”

“But did that attorney friend of yours tell you our fake marriage became real?”

Julian stared at my hand intertwined with Adrian’s, and his face slowly turned pale.

“How is that possible?”

Adrian gave a low laugh.

He reached out and pulled me straight into his arms, the gesture full of possessiveness.

“Mr. Shaw, what exactly will it take for you to believe we’re a real married couple?”

Adrian lifted his eyes lazily, but his tone was wicked.

“Should my wife and I do it right in front of you?”

I was speechless.

My face burned bright red, and I smacked him lightly.

“Adrian! What the hell are you saying?”

Adrian looked down at my flustered expression and only laughed harder.

He caught my hand smoothly and lowered his head to kiss it.

“What are you so shy about? Isn’t this perfectly normal between husband and wife?”

My face grew even hotter.

Julian’s expression, however, had already darkened to the point of looking terrible.

He stared fixedly at Adrian’s hand on my waist.

Adrian had clearly lost all patience.

He looked at Julian and said coldly, “Mr. Shaw, you can see yourself out. My wife and I have other things to do.”

He emphasized the last few words heavily.

After saying that, he lifted me into his arms.

I instinctively wrapped my arms around his neck.

“What are you doing?”

He lowered his head and laughed softly beside my ear.

“I’m taking you back to the bedroom. We have important business.”

With that, he carried me upstairs in long strides.

I could clearly feel a gaze fixed on me the entire time, heavy, repressed, and on the verge of losing control.

But this time, I still did not look back, not even once.

By the time we finished our important business, it was already deep into the night.

A cool rain had begun to fall outside.

But the bedroom was unbearably warm.

Adrian had worn me out so thoroughly that I had no strength left.

I was curled up under the covers, too lazy to move even a finger.

Adrian was still holding me from behind, lowering his head to kiss my shoulder every now and then.

His voice was satisfied and lazy.

“Baby, do you love me the most now?”

My eyes were closed, and I was too sleepy to think. “What?”

“In front of your ex,” he said proudly, “you kept holding my hand.”

I could not help laughing. “You’re so childish. What is there to be jealous of when it comes to Julian?”

Adrian sounded perfectly justified. “He was your first love. I wasn’t. I’m going to be jealous of that for the rest of my life.”

I turned around, wrapped my arms around him, and kissed his chin lightly.

“You weren’t my first love, but you are the love of my life.”

Adrian’s eyes darkened, and he lowered his head as if he wanted to continue.

I quickly pushed him away.

“Stop. I’m thirsty.”

He was still pressing over me, his voice suggestive. “Thirsty? For what?”

I pushed him off and pulled on my robe to cover myself.

“I’m thirsty. I need water.”

I poured a glass of warm water and stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, drinking it in big gulps.

When I glanced down by accident, I saw a black Bentley parked below.

Julian was standing beside it.

He had not left.

I did not know how long he had been standing there.

Rain misted over his shoulders.

He looked somewhat disheveled.

A small red ember flared and dimmed between his fingers.

I had never expected Julian, who had always hated cigarettes, to start smoking.
