My Ex Is My Boss and He Wants Me Back Chapter 18

My Ex Is My Boss and He Wants Me Back Chapter 18

Seeing that this tactic no longer worked, Brian switched faces again and jabbed a finger at me, his

expression vicious, “Elowen. Are you really going this far? You’re actually sending your husband and your

mother-in-law to jail?”

“Aren’t you afraid people will point fingers at you? Aren’t you afraid your parents will find out?”

At the mention of my parents, my eyes dimmed.

“Funny you bring that up.” I stepped closer to him and lowered my voice. “When we got married, my parents

were against it. I was the one who insisted on marrying you.”

“Now it turns out they were right. As for sending you to jail…” I smiled faintly. “This is only the beginning.

Brian, I told you before, you would regret it.”

The officers stopped listening to his ranting. They pulled out handcuffs and snapped them onto both of them

as they continued to struggle and scream.

“Come with us. You can do all your talking back at the station!”

As Brian and his mother were shoved toward the patrol car, applause broke out across the lobby.

I took a slow breath, then turned to the receptionist, “Please call cleaning to take care of this. Also, notify the

tech department-no matter what it takes, they need to produce a simplified version of the model by 2 p.m.

today.”

“Yes, Ms. Hart.”

Once the chaos was dealt with, I took out my phone and saw an unread message.

It was from my father, Richard Hart.

Just two words: [Come home.]

I followed the officers to the station.

By the time I finished giving my statement, it was already noon.

Brian and his mother were being held on suspicion of deliberate destruction of property.

Brian kept shouting that it was a family matter, but faced with the priceless wreckage and the surveillance footage, the police were having none of it.

I showed no hesitation. I appointed Andrew to handle everything and rejected all mediation requests.

The moment I walked out of the precinct, my phone started vibrating nonstop.

Messages flooded in from the family group chat, along with private messages from neighbors and distant relatives.

I opened them and laughed in anger.

Brian’s younger sister, Ashley Cole, who never missed a chance to stir up trouble, had already posted a long,

sensational write-up online.

[Female Executive of Listed Company Caught in Affair, Joins Lover to Frame Husband and Mother-in-Law!]

The post twisted the truth entirely. It claimed I was having an affair, was discovered by my husband, and then used my position to have him and my mother-in-law arrested when they came to “reason” with me.

It even included a photo of me having coffee with Daniel at a Starbucks, along with a shot of Brian and his

mother being led away by the police.

What made it worse was that she had subtly leaked information about my parents as well.

In the comments, people who knew nothing had already started tearing into me.

[What a disgusting woman. Gets a little money and forgets where she came from.]

[Feel so bad for the honest husband. Marrying a wife like this is nothing short of a curse.]

[Dox her! Make sure she’s utterly disgraced!]

[Isn’t she the Hartwell Group heiress? Didn’t know her private life was this messy…]

That last comment caught my eye.

It seemed someone sharp-eyed had already recognized who I was.

My name was Elowen Hart, and my father was Richard Hart, CEO of Hartwell Group, one of the most

powerful conglomerates in the country.

For so-called love, I had hidden my identity and married Brian, living a suffocating life for three years.

Now that they wanted to play the public-opinion game, I saw no reason to hold back.

I dialed my father’s number.

“Dad. I’m coming home.”
