My Dead Hunter Husband Is the Supreme Alpha Chapter 04

That gaze swept past me-quick as wind through grass-but my heart had already skipped a beat

Sebastian seemed to sense it, stepping forward to angle his body, blocking that stare, forcing a smile:

“My apologies. A kinswoman forgets her place.”

The Supreme Alpha looked away, his silver eyes returning to icy calm. His fingers curled slightly at his side, almost imperceptibly, then relaxed. He waved a hand and strode off with his Luna.

Behind him, the torchlight stretched into a river of dark gold.

I collapsed onto the stone steps, chest heaving. The crescent-shaped gouges from Isabelle’s nails burned into my palm. The blackened wolf fang I kept hidden against my ribs pressed into bone, hot as if fresh from the forge.

I got another scolding.

Words like “unseemly,” “ill-bred,” “how dare you accost the Supreme Alpha”-they came in a

steady stream.

Seraphina’s mother made pointed insinuations, implying I had designs.

Only Sebastian stood there, brow furrowed, silent.

Just as I was about to lose my temper, he barked:

“Enough!”

The blast of his Alpha aura rattled the room; he grabbed me and hauled me away, none daring to

stop him.

I looked up at him, lips parting slightly.

It was the first time he’d ever defended me in public.

Only when we reached our own quarters did he stop.

His chest heaved, his brow deeply furrowed, barely concealed panic in his eyes.

“You saw him, didn’t you?”

I closed my eyes, steadying my breath:

“You’ve known all along, haven’t you?”

The light in his eyes dimmed, his voice turning hard:

“Elena, don’t forget-you are my Luna. We’ve sealed the pact.”

“Not even the Supreme Alpha has the right to claim another’s Luna. Besides, he already has one

Seraphina…

The image of the two of them walking side by side flashed through my mind, a dull ache spreading through my chest.

Seeing my expression, he seemed to relax minutely, his voice rising slightly.

“Chances are the Supreme Alpha has already forgotten you. You’re a half-breed-your sister

Seraphina is a noble pure-blood.”

“Is that so?”

I clenched my fists and met his gaze.

“Then why wouldn’t you let me go to the Sanctuary?”

He froze, his pupils constricting. I took another step closer:

“Why do you think the Supreme Alpha made Seraphina his Luna?’

“Why are all those Moon-Tear Berries on her table?”

“Enough!”

His face paled, taking an unwilling step back.

His voice came out as if through gritted teeth, repeating once more:

“Elena, you are my Luna!”

That night, back at his den, Sebastian locked me in.

He wouldn’t let me leave or receive visitors.

Moonlight filtered through the narrow window, casting his face in shifting shadows.

“You’d best abandon that fantasy,” he said.

He came daily, never speaking, just sitting in silence. My table was piled with Moon-Tear Berries-

four platters, same as always.

“I picked these myself.”

“Anything he can give you, I can give you too.”

I never touched one.

Winter thawed into spring.

Sebastian clenched his fists, visibly wrestling his temper.

In the end, he couldn’t hold back-he slammed his fist into the stone wall, knuckles splitting.

His voice was raw, his eyes burning with grievance and resentment:

“Elena, I’m your husband!”

“Haven’t I been good enough to you? Why must you always pine for him?”

I looked up at him, calm:

“Once, I thought of you as my husband.”

On the day we sealed the pact, when I first crossed his threshold, I thought-if he treated me well, like a wife-maybe I could forget Domi.

After all, I’d grown up starved for kindness; I’m not built for steadfast loyalty.

But he didn’t.

His heart belonged to another; he resented me, despised me.

And that only made Domi shine brighter by comparison.

His body trembled.

The sunlight was blocked by his shadow, casting a wide swathe of darkness over me.

After a long moment, he steadied himself, a bitter smile twisting his lips:

“Fine. I’ll let you go.”

Without waiting for my answer, he strode out.

Only when he lifted the hide curtain did he pause:

“The Supreme Alpha dotes on Seraphina-are you so certain he still feels the same as before?”
