My Dead Hunter Husband Is the Supreme Alpha Chapter 03

I considered it for a moment, then shook my head.

“Then I still don’t want you.”

His expression twisted, veins standing out at his temples, fury barely leashed.

He held it in with visible effort, then let out a cold snort and stormed out.

Sebastian was livid.

For days, he refused to see me, locking me in the den.

It wasn’t until the Pack Hunt that he finally came for me, his jaw still tight with tension.

We arrived at the Vance ancestral grounds to find the ritual square already heaving with wolves. Torchlight blazed along the stone paths, turning the hollow as bright as day. The Vance line had ruled these lands for centuries, and the Ancestral Wolf Stone loomed at the square’s heart, deep claw marks gouged into its surface—each groove steeped in generations of blood memory.

Soon, a silence fell like fresh snow—every voice, every clink of tankards snuffed out at once. Then came the rustle of bodies bowing low, wolves baring their throats in perfect unison.

My chest tightened. That soul-deep pressure made my fingertips go numb.

The sentry stumbled in, nearly tripping over his own paws, voice cracking:

“The Supreme Alpha… the Alpha approaches with his mate!”

“What?! The Alpha himself?”

Sebastian shot to his feet.

The sentry nodded frantically. “Aye, no mistake.”

My other sister, Isabelle, let out a soft breath, envy glinting in her eyes. “The Supreme Alpha truly dotes on his Luna… to grace us with his presence. Come, let’s see the spectacle.”

She reached for my arm.

“No!”

My wrist was caught in an iron grip.

I looked down. Sebastian’s fingers were clamped around it like a vice, his knuckles white, the pressure grinding bone. His face was taut, his pupils shrunk to thin slits in the firelight—an instinctual reaction wolves only showed in extremity.

“Don’t go.” His voice was a raw whisper, trembling on the last syllable.

I stared at him, shocked; he never lost his composure like this before others.

He steadied himself, Adam’s apple bobbing as he swallowed, then forced a cold scoff: “You’re a half-breed. Nothing here for you to witness anyway.”

He released me, but his fingertips brushed the back of my hand as he drew back—lingering, accidental.

In the end, I didn’t go.

It didn’t trouble me overmuch, but Isabelle stayed beside me, clearly annoyed.

She sipped her blood wine and frowned, muttering: “That border Alpha has a sharper tongue than a thorn bush.”

A few exchanges later, she suddenly gasped, setting down her cup: “Oh! I just remembered—I mustgo to the forecourt at once.”

With that, she dragged me along: “Elena, you’re coming.”

I let her haul me through the stone corridors, almost laughing—she’d clearly invented an excuse to gawk.

She winked at me, dropping her voice:

“I heard the Supreme Alpha is towering, with silver eyes like trapped moonlight, and his aura alone can crush a low-rank’s ribs… Let’s steal a glance…”

At the edge of the ritual altar, the crowd was thick, yet utterly silent.

All wolves bowed their heads; only the territorial Alphas stood at the very front.

Sebastian was bowing to a man. The man had his back to us, already turning from the altar.

“You’re departing already?” Sebastian’s voice drifted from ahead.

The man gave a low hum, his form indistinct through the flickering torchlight—I caught only a clear, cold voice, like a blade honed under winter moonlight.

That voice…

My whole body jolted, my insides wrenched as if caught in an invisible fist and twisted.

Just then, Isabelle carefully parted the bone-bead curtain before us.

The man’s profile came into view.

Domi.

When the firelight caught half his face, something inside me shattered.

Seeing him turn to leave, I shot to my feet, charging forward without thought—

“Don’t—”

The next second, Isabelle’s hand clamped over my mouth, slamming me back down. She was ashen, her nails digging into my flesh as she hissed through gritted teeth:

“Have you lost your gods-damned mind?!”

The man turned his head. The torchlight danced in his pupils.
