My Dead Hero’s Wedding Chapter 09

My Dead Hero’s Wedding Chapter 09 The Apology That Came Too Late

I shook my head with a smile and refused-him.

‘Adrian, everything between us is in the past.

‘I’m moving forward with my life, and I hope you will never appear before me again.

‘It’s far too late.

‘If you had pulled me aside at the wedding to tell me the truth, or even just asked if I was alright, I would have waited for you without hesitation.

‘But not anymore.”

Adrian stayed hunched over, his eyes filled with torment. He parted his lips but could say nothing.

In the end, he left.

Never to return as I had wished.

On our first day living together, Caleb threw all my medication into the trash can.

‘Sienna, you won’t need these while you’re with me.”

Looking at his gentle smile, I feigned confusion, “What if I have an episode?”

A playful grin crossed his face, “PTSD? I’m the best doctor you could ask for.”

smiled, warmth spreading through my chest.

In his eyes, I was just an ordinary person.

When Claire was five months pregnant, she reached out to me again.

After some thought, I agreed to meet her.

Nearly three months had passed since we last met. Her belly had grown larger, yet her domineering

attitude remained unchanged.

She looked at me coldly and distantly, speaking first.

‘I know everything now. Adrian put on that act just to protect you.”

She fell silent for a moment before continuing.

“If it were anyone else, I would never apologize. If she couldn’t keep the man she loved, that was her own fault. I was merely fighting for what was mine.

I still do not believe I did anything wrong.

“But since it’s you, Sienna… I’m swallowing my pride to apologize.

I lied to him. My methods were immoral, I know.

‘But Adrian refuses to come home unless I have your forgiveness.”

I raised an eyebrow, my gaze steady

“Your affairs have nothing to do with me.”

Claire’s nails dug into her palms. For the first time, her tone softened.

“Sienna, I’m sorry.

“I love him, and my child cannot grow up without a father.

‘Even after learning about your past, I cannot leave him. I saved his life, and as long as I do not file for divorce, he will never walk away from me.

‘For the sake of our old camaraderie… can you forgive me?”

I said nothing and stared into her eyes for a long while.

She had changed.

I remembered Claire as bright, warm, loyal, bold in love and hate.

She had never begged anyone for anything before.

This was the first time she had lowered herself, all because of Adrian.

Once, I had loved Adrian fiercely, wasting five years of my life pining for him.

I had hated Claire because of it.

But now, she was trapped in the same pain I once endured.

Adrian had become her inner demon too.

I handed her the key to my apartment back home.

I had decorated it according to Adrian’s preferences, and I no longer needed it.

Consider it a gift for her child.

As for forgiveness…

I knew I would never be able to grant it, not for the rest of my life.
