Wian dragged her suitcase down the street.

She called her best friend.

“Natalie, can I stay with you tonight?”

After a long silence, Natalie finally spoke.

“Vivian, I don’t think we should be friends anymore.”

Vivian thought she had misheard.

“What did you say?”

Natalie’s voice rose with every word.

“What you did was beyond disgusting.

“You were never in a coma? Even if you believed Julian stole Mason’s technology, you had no right to punish him like that.

“You slept with Mason while Julian was caring for you. You even got pregnant by him.

“And how could you post those lies about Julian yesterday? You were worse than anything you accused him of being.

“He didn’t steal the technology, and Mason staged that video. Julian never cheated on you.

“I can’t be friends with someone who could do all of that. We’re done.”

Natalie ended the call before Vivian could respond.

Vivian stared at the dark screen for a long time.

A bitter smile touched her lips.

She had done one unforgivable thing after another. Of course Natalie was disappointed in her.

Her grip tightened around the phone before she finally called me.

“The person you are calling is currently on another line. Please try again later.”

She tried more than a dozen times. The same recording answered every call.

No one stayed on another call that long.

There was only one explanation. I had blocked her.

Vivian began to shake.

She sent me a message instead.

Julian, why did you sell the house? Where are you? I need to see you now.”

And failure icon appeared beside the message.

I had blocked her there too.

Panic consumed her. She began talking to herself in the middle of the sidewalk.

“Why are you doing this to me?”

“Mason deceived me too. I ended the pregnancy. What else do you want from me?”

Julian!”

She screamed my name.

People on the street stared as if she had lost her mind.

She didn’t notice.

An idea had already taken hold.

She would go to Crestmont. The Prescott family was famous enough that finding me should be easy.

She believed that once she explained everything and showed me how miserable she was, I would forgive her and take her back.

Hope flooded her at the thought.

She booked the earliest flight to Crestmont and took a cab straight to the airport.

Grandpa had been waiting when I returned to Crestmont.

The sight of my injuries darkened his expression. He immediately admitted me to the finest hospital in the city.

Under the care of an elite medical team, I improved quickly.

Grandpa ordered me to remain there until I had properly recovered.

The next day, an unexpected visitor swept into my room.

She was bright–eyed and full of restless energy.

After giving me a quick once–over, she asked,

“So you’re Julian Prescott?

“The man whose wife fooled him for three years, got pregnant by another man, and married that man in the end?”

It was already over, but her blunt summary still irritated me.

Who are you? And why are you discussing my private life?”

She smiled.

“Harper Bellamy. My family owns this hospital.”

My expression stiffened.

So this was the Bellamy granddaughter Grandpa had mentioned.

He had apparently been planning to arrange a date between us.

Embarrassed, I said,

“I’m sorry you came all this way. I’m not interested in dating or marriage right now.”

Harper laughed.

She winked at me.

“I’m not here for romance, Julian. I’m here with a business proposition.”
