My Cheating Boyfriend Thought I Was Obedient—So I Married Someone Else Chapter 07

I woke up with my hand pinned in someone’s grip. I tried to move, and it tightened.

I turned my head. Kael had just opened his eyes and let go, flexing his fingers, working out the

stiffness in his wrist.

He took in my condition. His face darkened like a storm rolling in.

“A whole bottle of sleeping pills. Are you trying to kill yourself?”

“Who taught you this? Using suicide as a threat now?”

Then I remembered. After my mom’s call, I couldn’t sleep. I thought I’d take something to knock myself out.

My head was foggy. I’d taken a few too many by accident.

When I realized something was wrong, I’d hit the emergency alert in the mansion. The house manager must’ve gotten me in time.

Kael’s face was wrecked with exhaustion. And anger. And underneath it, a flicker of fear.

I almost laughed. He actually thought I’d use suicide to manipulate him?

I didn’t bother explaining. I just followed his lead.

“Can’t you just…” I swallowed. “Be satisfied with me? Only me?”

The words came out broken.

Love me the way I love you. Is that so impossible?

I kept pushing. My last chance. One final offer.

And I had no limits left. If he said yes, I’d wipe everything clean. Pretend it all never happened.

I disgusted myself. I couldn’t help it.

Some people you just can’t get past. They’re fate. A curse.

“Last time. Okay?” My voice was barely a whisper. Tears hit the back of my hand. “Stop going to

them-”

Kael stared at me in silence. Didn’t speak for a long time.

For many days after, I kept replaying this moment.

Wondering if he saw my face soaked with tears, saw the wreckage in my eyes, and ever felt even a flicker of hesitation.

But in the end, he just exhaled and started reasoning with me.

“Elara. Did I ever promise you anything?” He frowned, thinking. Like he was dealing with a child begging for candy.

I froze. My fist clenched.

He shook his head. “Love? Marriage? Loyalty? I never promised you a single thing. We got here

together. You were willing.”

“I’ll say it again. If you can’t handle it, we end this cleanly.”

He stood up. The bottle of sleeping pills on the nightstand got stuffed into his coat pocket.

“Rest up.” He pulled the covers up around me. “Jax’s birthday is the day after tomorrow. I’ve got your gift ready. Let me know when you’re done with this. I’ll come get you.”

I should’ve known. A bastard like Kael Voss was selfish down to the bone.

I’d already let him cross every line I had. I’d give an inch, and he’d take a mile. That was always his

way. Still was.

Maybe I really had taken too many sleeping pills. Saying something like that.

You can’t warm up someone who has no heart.

I grabbed my phone and opened my email.

Stared blankly for a few seconds. Then hit send on the confirmation.
